CORBA-based distributed and replicated resource repository architecture for hierarchically configurable home network

Cloud computing technology has rapidly advanced and has become a business necessity. Among its services is Container as a Service (CaaS), which offers advantages in application development due to its lightweight nature, ease of deployment, and scalability management. However, container management is complex and requires specialized skills. Traditional tools are often insufficient for simplifying container management and monitoring. Therefore, this paper proposes a CaaS architecture and its management platform to make container management easier for users. The proposed architecture utilizes Linux Containers (LXC), implemented through the Proxmox VE virtualization platform. For container management, a web-based platform is proposed, developed using NextJs. The web interface is designed to be simple, enabling even users without specialized skills to manage containers efficiently while still offering robust features for container management. The proposed CaaS architecture and management platform have been tested and function effectively, aiming to simplify the deployment and management of CaaS for users.

Many people now receive various multimedia services through their personal devices via a home network. The rapid growth in multimedia content and smart devices means that multimedia services can encounter many problems in home networks. High volumes of storage capacity and processing resources are required manage these large amounts of media content. In addition, users may find it difficult to receive smooth streaming services in remote places because of limited remote access functions. To address these problems, we propose a model that uses cloud computing technology to store and manage large volumes of multimedia content. The proposed model provides remote access functions for receiving multimedia services in home networks and in wireless local area networks (WLANs). The model has four components, i.e., the Assistant Gateway, cloud server, remote controller, and media device renderer. The Assistant Gateway is an important component in the proposed model. It can access a cloud server to obtain multimedia content information before sending it to users in a home network. Thus, users can receive home media streaming services via the Assistant Gateway using a media device renderer. Based on this model, we implemented each component to support streaming service for users in remote areas.

In recent year, rapid advancement of UPnP technology cause development of a variety of UPnP devices. In addition, various UPnP services developed for the devices. In home network environment, user needs continual UPnP service. However, the services based on UPnP are not provided continually, because of imperfect matching among the heterogeneous devices. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an automated method of matching for UPnP devices for user mobility and continual UPnP service in home network and cloud computing environments. The proposed method of automated device matching uses a mobile agent for providing reliable QoS in real-time. The mobile agent regularly searches for UPnP devices in the home network. In addition, the searched device information is registered in control system by mobile agent that monitors state of the searched device. Users use the service that is allocated from mobile agent in real-time when users access home network. To provide QoS to interdevice, mobile agent analyses relationship between user device and service device. Then, the mobile agent connect user device with service device which has high priority. Thus, user can use continual service in different environments.

IT service management is a new, upcoming area of research with several new challenges to cope with. The paper uses a systematic approach to identify new requirements to service management and analyzes some of them more precisely. As a result of the discussion, the introduction of a service management platform is motivated. The architecture of a service management platform is specified as well as the integration aspect discussed on a fault management scenario.

Quality of Service (QoS) provision in home networks based on end-user preferences or requirements is an important and complex task. Current mobile devices with new communication capabilities have boosted the apparition of multimedia scenarios where users could easily create ad hoc multimedia sessions by friendly providing their requirements and preferences like QoS preferences. In order to dynamically integrate end-users QoS preferences or requirements when using such multimedia systems, end-users require frameworks which allow them to generate the required multimedia sessions. This work introduces an ontology based framework aimed at integrating end-user QoS preferences and requirements for multimedia services. A case study is presented in order to illustrate the use of this framework in the context of extended home networks.

In home networks, the device collaboration service has challenging issues to provide QoS (Quality of Service) for its users with heterogeneous consumer electronic devices. However, existing schemes do not guarantee quality of multimedia contents. To cope with these problems, this paper presents a simple but effective media quality control scheme that can improve quality of collaborative streaming-based media contents. The proposed scheme controls collaboration contents according to the number of available collaboration devices at home and media quality based on available network bandwidth. The experimental result shows that the proposed scheme can significantly improve user-perceived quality.

In this paper, we propose an open standard-based, intelligent service management platform that aims to provide a flexible and extensible platform for building intelligent home network services. To have greater flexibility and efficiency in managing home network services, we further propose an AAA proxy, a service provisioning, security agent, a sip proxy service, and others. The proliferation of devices together with the necessity of being constantly connected to the network is considered to cause the need for 'Autoconfiguration'. At the same time, it is necessary to guarantee an adequate level of quality of service. So, we propose to use together zeroconfiguration protocols and Virtual LANs.

It has been highlighted and spread that the cutting edge system and intelligence home system raised from dramatic development of IT technology. Through the progressed Application of Home Networking Tech. and diverse multi-media, there are plenty of efforts to pursue the realization of human convenience. As a home networking services is on the increase, so is the demand for context-aware services, utilizing a profile of users as well as various context information, a sensor, and other environmental information in order to recognize a pattern of users' activities. And more enhanced services that can analyze users' pattern of behaviors and reflect individual tendency in the service should be offered so that users can obtain the information they want much faster. Thus, an intellectual control model will be discussed herein, which can offer active service based on a pattern of users' behaviors, in order to suggest a device that predicts users' activities and operates in a more intelligent way.

현재 홈 네트워크 환경은 디지털 가전기기의 발전으로 홈 네트워크 환경에서 TV는 IPTV의 양방향성 특성으로 시청환경과 거주환경에도 변화를 주고 있다. TV는 거주자의 동선이 가장 많이 확보되는 거실에 배치되어 있다는 점과 가족구성원이 손쉽게 사용하고 사용도 또한 높다는 점에서 홈 미디어의 통합적 제어 역할에 적합한 조건을 갖추고 있다. 그래서 홈 네트워크 환경에서 TV의 현재 역할과 사용자 시나리오 분석을 통해 앞으로의 사용자 니즈를 유추하기 위해 1차적으로 국내외 기업들이 제시하고 있는 기술과 개발시나리오를 수집하고 2차로는 에스노그라피 관찰을 통해 IPTV를 중심으로 한 사용자 행태를 관찰하여 앞서 1차적으로 조사하였던 기업이 제시하는 시나리오와 비교분석하였다. 사례조사와 실험을 통한 사용자 시나리오를 분석한 결과 기업별 연구에는 시큐리티, 엔터테인먼트와 가정 내에서 이루어 질 수 있는 통합형 디바이스 연구가 주를 이루고 있다면, 에스노그라피에 의한 사용자행동패턴은 오토테인먼트, 시큐리티가 주를 이루었고, 아직 TV와 홈 미디어 주변기기와의 상호작용은 미흡한 것으로 나타났다. 이 논문을 통해서 가정에서의 사용자의 컨텍스트를 분석하고 이를 기반으로 서비스 개발에 효과적으로 활용할 수 있게 제시할 수 있었고, 사용자의 행태를 분석결과 가정 내 활동과 가정 외 활동의 비율 또한 고려되어야 한다는 점을 알 수 있었다. Due to the development of digital appliance, role of TV causes both-way by introducing IPTV, and SNS service causes big change of watching environment and residence environment. There are good conditions on the role of integrated control because it is arranged in the living room which secures movement most effectively and because family members can easily use, and the degree of use is high. Therefore, we infer user's needs by analyzing user scenario and current role of TV in home network environment. Primarily, we collect surveys of development scenario and technology which companies suggest TV applied by home network service, and secondly, we comparatively study scenario which the companies mentioned above suggest through observing user scenario, and study the role of IPTV in the future through actual scenario-based experiment by ethnography. After analyzing user scenario through case study and experiment, there are integrated device studies mainly in company study because it can be made up inside home, security and entertainment. On the other hand, there are patterns of user behavior by scenario experiment mainly in auto-tainment, security, and it showed that it is insufficient for interaction between TV and home media peripheral. Through this paper, we analyze context of home user, and based on this, we could suggest effective use of service development. Also after analyzing user form, we could know it also should be considered of ratio between activity inside home and activity outside home.

Admission region of triple-play services in wireless home networks

The explosive growth of Internet-connected consumer devices in the digital home has made home networks one of the important emerging topics in networking research. A rich body of research efforts have been made to study broadband performance and home network management, little is known about network traffic that are exchanged within home networks or between Internet-connected devices in home networks and end hosts on the Internet. In this paper we design and implement a built-in traffic monitoring system on programmable home routers to collect and analyze incoming, outgoing and internal traffic for residential home networks. To illustrate the applications of the proposed built-in traffic monitoring system, we deploy the system in two real home networks, and demonstrate its capabilities of detecting unwanted traffic towards home networks as well as those suspicious traffic originating from compromised devices in home networks. In addition, our correlation analysis on unwanted traffic towards distributed home networks reveals aggressive scanners on the Internet and sheds lights on traffic characteristics of these scanners.

We can observe a relatively low popularity of service management platforms (SMPs). Therefore is a need for searching causes of this situation and remedies. In the course of the conducted research, the authors identified a significant problem of lack of social trust in SMPs and service providers on the Internet. One of the ways to reduce its scale is to use social collaboration solutions (SCSs). Relying on transparency of activities and on social and professional relations, they can bring the consumer closer to the service provider and its customer community by receiving various stimuli resulting from social interactions.
