The Study on Query Interface to XML-Based Multimedia Database

The MPEG Query Format (MPQF) is a new standard from the MPEG standardization committee which provides a standardized interface to multimedia document repositories. The purpose of this paper is describing the necessary modifications which will allow MPQF to manage metadata modelled with Semantic Web languages like RDF and OWL, and query constructs based on SPARQL. The suggested modifications include the definition of a new MPQF query type, and a generalization of the MPQF metadata processing model. As far as we know, this is the first work to apply the MPEG Query Format to semantic-driven search and retrieval of multimedia contents.

The development of the interval analysis theory and its applications in solving applied problems led to the need to collect, store and extract efficiently interval-significant data in relational databases. Modern relational database management systems (DBMS) either allow to work with built-in data types which however are not friendly for use or provide the ability to create your own user-defined data types in several ways. The article describes the creation of a user-defined data type iInterval, functions and aggregates to work with interval data in MS SQL Server using the Common Language Runtime (CLR).

The rapid dissemination of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has emerged as a serious health problem on an unprecedented global scale. AMR is predicted to kill more than 10 million people annually by 2050 leading to huge economic losses worldwide. Therefore, urgent action is required at the national as well as international levels to avert this looming crisis. Effective surveillance can play an important role in the containment of AMR spread by providing data to help determine AMR hotspots, predict an outbreak, maintain proper stewardship and propose immediate and future plans of action in this respect. Although many existing databases provide genetic and molecular information on AMR in microorganisms, there is no dedicated database of AMR from non-clinical samples. The FEAMR database is a one-of-its-kind database to provide manually collated and curated information on the prevalence of AMR in food and the environment. For designing the FEAMR webpage, Microsoft Visual Studio with HTML, CSS, ASP.NET, Bootstrap for the front-end and C# for the back-end were used. The FEAMR database is a free access resource (https://feamrudbt-amrlab.mu.ac.in/), accepting verified food- and environment-related AMR submissions from across the globe. To the best of our knowledge, it is probably the first database providing AMR-related surveillance data from non-clinical samples. It is designed from the ‘One Health Approach’ perspective to help in the containment of global AMR spread.Graphical Flowsheet of steps for making FEAMR database 1. Research articles relating to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) were searched on the internet. 2. Data relating to AMR were retrieved from these articles and stored in an MS-Excel sheet. 3. The web pages of the FEAMR database (DB) were created using Microsoft Visual Studio (MVS) and its various tools. HTML, CSS, ASP.NET and Bootstrap were used for the front end and C# used for the back-end of the website. 4. The DB of FEAMR was created using MS SQL Server which was controlled by SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). 5. The data from the MS-Excel sheet in step 2 was stored in the SQL server and displayed on the web page using GridView tool of MVS and C#. The database created was then uploaded on the University of Mumbai (UoM) website, where it can be accessed by all users having the link to the DB (https://feamrudbt-amrlab.mu.ac.in/).

Uniform query formalization in mobile visual search: From standards to practice

The purpose of the study is to increase the efficiency of the city ecosystem and reduce the time spent on the formation of a comparative analysis of the studied components in the atmospheric air. The authors present the structure of the initial data provided by the environmental protection aboratory for visualization of atmospheric pollution areas. Design solutions for software development in the form of mental diagrams and block diagrams are given. As a result, special software was developed using an open source geographic information system (GIS) and a relational database management system MS SQL Server, which makes the software universally applicable in any area.

The article discusses a special type of integrity in databases – ancestral multiplicity integrity (AM-integrity), a concept introduced by the authors at the conceptual–ontological level within “entity–relationship” models. In this paper, this concept is extended to the relational model for the purpose of practical application in creating databases. Related notions are examined, including the lineage of ascending ancestry, the relation of ancestral multiplicity, and the corresponding integrity constraint. Transitioning to the relational model requires consideration of primary and foreign keys, referential integrity, and table triggers. As a universal means of ensuring integrity in the relational environment, the paper proposes an approach based on database triggers. These triggers detect and block insert and update operations that would lead to violations of integrity. The need for procedural programming of triggers is noted, along with the challenges of transferring data between different database management systems due to variations in procedural programming languages. An alternative approach is suggested, based on leveraging built-in mechanisms for maintaining referential integrity, in which ancestral multiplicity integrity is ensured as part of referential integrity. The specific solution depends on the use of simple or composite, natural or surrogate keys, as well as on the technical limitations of the database implementation environment. In some cases, redundant key components may need to be introduced to track ancestor instances along ancestral lineages. Test examples of relational models are provided for different relational systems (complete implementations in MySQL and MariaDB, and partial implementations in PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and Oracle Database).

The development of information technologies requires the processing of an increasing amount of information. A great number of tools and DBMSs for working with big data have been created. Examples of DBMS are: MS SQL Server, Oracle Database, SciDB, VoltDB, PostgreSQL XL, Clusterix, etc. Most systems of the BigData class require serious computing power to ensure acceptable performance. This article discusses the TPC-H test and 22 of its queries, the execution of which allows you to analyze the performance of database management systems (DBMS). PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server DBMS are considered and their performance is investigated based on TPC-H test queries with database (DB) of various sizes in the DbVisualizer Free version 11.0.6.

About three decades ago, when Codd (1970) invented the relational database model, it took the database world by storm. The enterprises that adapted it early won a large competitive edge. The past two decades have witnessed tremendous growth of relational database systems, and today the relational model is by far the dominant data model and is the foundation for leading DBMS products, including IBM DB2, Informix, Oracle, Sybase, and Microsoft SQL server. Relational databases have become a multibillion-dollar industry.

Since the number of targets near the earth orbit has already been beyond 9000, it is necessary and much important to analyze targets near the mission orbit to bring the mission to access both before the launch and during the orbital mission. NORAD maintains general element perturbation element sets (Two-Line Element Sets, TLEs) on all resident objects. In turn, these element sets are provided to users. These element sets are periodically refined so as to maintain a reasonable prediction capability on all objects. At the same time, NORAD developed a set of models named SGP/SDP series as models for propagation of NORAD element sets. Five mathematical models for prediction of satellite position and velocity are available. And the NORAD element sets are currently generated with either SGP4 or SDP4 depending on whether the satellite is near-Earth or deep-space. These two models, SGP4 for near-earth objects and SDP4 for deep space objects, are widely used in satellite tracking software and can produce very accurate results when used with current NORAD two-line element datum. A brief review is taken at these element sets and propagation models first. Then through the precision analysis, it is believed that using SGP4/SDP4 models for taking quick collision alert among targets is suitable. Based on this conclusion, an orbit debris environment and collision alert system was designed. In this system, targets and the corresponding TLEs are saved in a database based on MS SQL Server, and the data visual is realized by OpenGL. The orbit propagation models being used is SGP4/SDP4 since this model is the generator of current TLEs and will be supported in the future.

In the article, basic information about databases are presented, including defining the most crucial notions and referring to the history of emerging standards in that field of IT knowledge. Starting from Codd’s database criteria, the differences between a database and DataBase Management System (DBMS) are elaborated on. The main functions of DBMS are also clarified. Upon the short classification of SQL, which is used to manipulate databases, the main differences and similarities between different software are presented, focusing on commercial products (MS SQL Server, Oracle) with some references to Open Source systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL). The comparison was made in three areas: data type, commands and SQL function. In the final part of the article, dissertations from the MILA College (currently Warsaw School of Computer Science) are presented. They all refer to the transformation of SQL code between particular dialects as well as creating packages to make the job of database makers easier in a multiproduct environment. 1 Mgr inz. Object-relational mapping is a technology that connects relationships with object-oriented entities, which aims to eliminate duplicate layers together with costs of maintenance and any errors arising from their existence. A lot of tools and technologies were designed in order to support and implement idea of object-relational mapping. In this paper we present the performance comparison of two most common object-relational mapping interfaces for .NET framework: Entity Framework and NHibernate. In the .NET developers community, there is a lot of discussion today about the similarities and differences of the both technologies. To address this issue, we compared the features and performance of both tools. We analysed the performance of Entity Framework and NHibernate for two different databases (MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL), different query languages (lambda expressions and LINQ for Entity Framework and HQL and Critera API for NHibernate) and compared the results with the standard SqlClient queries. The results show that there is no significant difference between these both tools and we proved that common opinion that NHibernate performs better than Entity Framework is incorrect.

The aim of this work was to create a system, for saving and displaying electro physical records, which will be based on platforms . NET Framework, ASP. NET and MS SQL Server. The first part of the work is mainly theoretic analysis of used technologies, in the second part there are analyzed the way and process of making and creating the database and the web application itself. Purpose of the web application is to show saved records in a table, to filtrate entries with a key word, to show a preview of a curve of electro physical data and an option to download electro physical data in three different formats (edf, dat, xml). This project is based on the idea of sharing, above mentioned, electro physical data among hospitals and scientific labs without key to patient's data.
