Pickard-Cambridge, 1872) (Thomisidae); the genera Cesonia Simon, 1893 and Trichonephila Dahl, 1911 are newly recorded from the Caucasus. The record of T. clavata represents the first documented introduction of this family in the Western Palaearctic.

Ten new species of the orb-weaving spider genus Alpaida O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1889 are described from Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro states, Brazil: Alpaida batman sp. nov., A. capixaba sp. nov., A. linhares sp. nov., and A. sooretama sp. nov. come from Sooretama and Linhares (Espírito Santo state), while A. jequitiba sp. nov. from Parque Estadual dos Três Picos (Cachoeiras de Macacu), A. coati sp. nov. and A. serrana sp. nov., both from Parque Nacional da Serra dos Órgãos (Teresópolis), A. regua sp. nov. from Reserva Ecológica de Guapiaçu (REGUA, Cachoeiras de Macacu), and A. taquara from Parque Estadual da Pedra Branca (PEPB) and Ilha do Fundão (both Rio de Janeiro city), are all from Rio de Janeiro state. Alpaida pretiosa sp. nov. is found in all three states: Sooretama and Linhares (Espírito Santo state), Reserva União (Cachoeiras de Macacu, Rio de Janeiro state), and in Viçosa (Minas Gerais state). Additionally, we correct the mismatching of one of our males with females of another species from the literature, and expand the distribution of A. mendensis Baptista, Castanheira & Prado, 2018.

A new species of the Caribbean genus Cyrtopholis Simon, 1892, Cyrtopholis montserrat sp. nov. is described from the United Kingdom Overseas Territory (UKOT) of Montserrat, based on both sexes. Cyrtopholis femoralis Pocock, 1903 is redescribed from the holotype male with the first figures of the genitalia of this Montserrat endemic spider presented. The endemic Saint Barthélemy species Cyrtopholis antillana Thorell, 1894 stat. rev. is revalidated from synonymy with Cyrtopholis bartholomaei (Latreille, 1832) and non-type specimens of both sexes are described and diagnosed. Cyrtopholis innocua (Ausserer, 1871), C. intermedia (Ausserer, 1875), C. ischnoculiformis (Franganillo, 1926), and C. obsoleta (Franganillo, 1935) are proposed as nomina dubia, and Cyrtopholis respinus Franganillo, 1935 is confirmed as a nomen nudum.

Five new species of the genus Heteropoda from Southeast Asia are described: H. asa spec. nov. (Indonesia: Kalimantan; male), H. dede spec. nov. (Malaysia: Sabah; female), H. josephkohi spec. nov. (Brunei: Temburong; male, female), H. saracenoi spec. nov. (Indonesia: Flores; male, female), and H. singaporensis spec. nov. (Singapore; male, female). Most of them exhibit special palpal features like embolic apophyses or outgrowths, conductor apophyses, additional RTA branches or, in one case, a unique opisthosomal shape.

A new Brazilian genus of curtain-web spiders, family Dipluridae Simon, 1889, Harpathele gen. nov., is described, with Harpathele gymnognatha comb. nov. (Bertkau, 1880) (Rio de Janeiro state) as its type species. The new genus is a lyrate Diplurinae and it is known only from southeast Brazil. It may be recognized by the relatively small body, maxilla with dorsal transverse suture showing distinct curve at its basal third, a field of numerous long and thin setae above that suture, and a field of small rigid bristles below it, among other characters. Harpathele gymnognatha comb. nov. (Bertkau, 1880) is revalidated and redescribed, with the designation of a neotype and the first description of a male, based on specimens collected in its type locality that match the original description and illustrations, and is pointed as senior synonym of Diplura annectens (Bertkau, 1880). Additionally, two species of the new genus are described: Harpathele cariacica sp. nov., based on females from Espírito Santo state, and Harpathele salinas sp. nov., based on males from Rio de Janeiro state.

The type material of Pamphobeteus ultramarinus Schmidt, 1995 and P. vespertinus (Simon, 1889) are redescribed. The male of P. lapola Sherwood, Gabriel, Brescovit & Lucas, 2022 is described for the first time. Six new species are described: P. amazonas Sherwood, Gabriel, Peñaherrera-R., Cisneros-Heredia., León-E., Brescovit & Lucas sp. nov. from Brazil, and P. gangotenai Cisneros-Heredia, Peñaherrera-R., León-E., Sherwood, Gabriel, Brescovit & Lucas, sp. nov., P. jamacoaque Peñaherrera-R., Cisneros-Heredia., León-E., Sherwood, Gabriel, Brescovit & Lucas sp. nov., P. lasjuntas Peñaherrera-R., Cisneros-Heredia., León-E., Sherwood, Gabriel, Brescovit & Lucas sp. nov., P. matildeae Sherwood, Gabriel, Peñaherrera-R., Cisneros-Heredia., León-E., Brescovit & Lucas sp. nov., and P. skis León-E., Peñaherrera-R., Cisneros-Heredia, Sherwood, Gabriel, Brescovit & Lucas sp. nov. from Ecuador. We report, for the first time, the presence of Type III urticating setae in Pamphobeteus Pocock, 1901. New interpretations of tibial apophysis morphology are presented, alongside a comparison of the palpal bulb morphology of all known male congeners. New distribution and/or museum records are made for P. antinous Pocock, 1903, P. crassifemur Bertani, Fukushima & Silva, 2008, P. lapola, and P. urvinae Sherwood, Gabriel, Brescovit & Lucas, 2022. Pamphobeteus petersi Schmidt, 2002 is illustrated and transferred to the genus Megaphobema Ausserer, 1875, based on palpal bulb morphology, and proposed as a junior synonym of Megaphobema velvetosoma Schmidt, 1995 syn. nov. Two Costa Rican species currently housed in Megaphobema are found to be misplaced, based on genital, femoral, and stridulation organ morphology, and are transferred to Abdomegaphobema gen. nov., Thus creating the new combinations Abdomegaphobema mesomelas (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1892) comb. nov. and Abdomegaphobema peterklaasi (Schmidt, 1994) comb. nov.

The Serra de Piquiatuba is situated in the area of the 8th Battalion of Engineering and Construction—8° BEC, located at km 8 of the Santarém–Cuiabá highway, in the municipality of Santarém, Pará, Brazil. This region is characterized by a hot and humid climate with rainfall exceeding 1900 mm p.a. In this study, we present a species list of scorpions from the Serra de Piquiatuba, based on data collected from September to November 2010. Five species were recorded, all common in the Amazon, belonging to the families Buthidae and Chactidae. The observed diversity patterns are discussed considering other scorpion inventories carried out in Brazil and possible sampling biases. The present study raises methodological questions to be further addressed in scorpion community ecology studies.
