The authors propose a field control of GNSS equipment precision characteristics methodology for recording sub-centimeter movements of the Earth`s surface at geodynamic observations of tectonically moderate areas activity. The factors influencing the accuracy of GNSS measurements are analyzed. The theoretical aspects of developing measuring equipment field control methods are presented. Testing of the devices was carried out in the course of surveys on the Nizhne-Kanskiy massif geodynamic range in Krasnoyarsk krai in 2020–2022. The experiment was made with two-system GNSS facilities of geodesic class (5 to 6 sets). The results show that the proposed methodology of the used tools accuracy characteristics field control enables detecting incorrect nominal parameters of measuring instruments. In this case the parameters of the receivers` antennas are well coordinated with each other. The exactness of control characteristics in plan is at the level of 1,3–2,5 mm, in height – 2,5 mm. It was revealed that the height of the actual phase center of Grant_G3T and MarAnt+ antennas differ from the manufacturer`s declared passport data

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which was flying from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, China, lost communication with air traffic control shortly after take-off on March 8, 2014, and vanished. While the rest of the world awaited news of the missing plane and the 239 people on board, officials and experts began to look into the limited information available concerning the airliner’s real activities. The disappearance of a Malaysia Airline flight, carrying 239 passengers and crew, is one of the world’s biggest aviation mysteries. Despite all the efforts and evidence obtained so far, the crash site of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 could not be determined exactly. In this study, which we have done, the crash zone of the aircraft has been determined approximately by using the data in the previously prepared reports. In addition, the average ocean current speeds, directions and the parts of the debris of the aircraft were investigated on the satellite images, and the estimation of the area where the plane crashed was tried to be strengthened.

Land degradation leads to the alteration of ecological and economic functions due to a decrease in the productivity and quality of the land. Land degradation over Minna, Niger State, was assessed using geospatial techniques. Studies between the rainfall and NDVI used on human-induced and climate-induced land degradation were correlated. Landsat imageries on a decadal scale (2000–2019) were processed and classified using a maximum likelihood classifier. NDVI trends are not by rainfall dynamics to human actions. Averagely low, about 24.14%, correlation was found between the observed land degradation and the precipitation factor, yielding more than 50% congruence in degradation induced by human activities. The study discovered that the built-up and bare surfaces are increasing. The long-term changes in built-ups were 96% between 2000 and 2019; conversely, a sharp decrease in vegetative lands at about –19.38%. Based on the terrain analysis, locations have less steep and moderate slopes in the study area due to continuous urban expansion and demographic pressure. Consequentially, over time, available lands not degraded within the study areas would be reduced. The study recommended a proper land management system of land use allocation and land cover activities.

In the last few years, intensive measures have been taken to monitor and inventory the cultural heritage of Ukraine. An important aspect is the preservation of such objects and their transmission to future generations. It is important to use such a methodology and technology when performing monitoring works, which in the future will make it possible to perform a number of other tasks, in relation to a certain specific object, based on previously obtained data. Therefore, this paper proposes a method of cultural heritage monitoring using UAV-filming. The work examines the methods of monitoring cultural heritage objects and presents an a priori assessment of the accuracy of monitoring of cultural heritage by means of UAV photography and laser scanning. The work focuses on the fact that the monitoring of cultural heritage sites should be carried out precisely with the help of modern filming methods, which have a number of advantages compared to traditional methods. The reliability of the proposed methods is presented and substantiated by calculating an a priori estimate of the accuracy of potential results.

The authors describe an approach to modeling large volumes of heterogeneous spatial data in the form of a hypercube based on discrete global grid systems. Bibliometric analysis and literature review of academic publications, mapping and explanation of the scientific landscape on the subject of big data and data cubes in Earth sciences are carried out. The mentioned phenomenon is interpreted in Earth sciences in the view of the spatial data life cycle. The results show that its transformative impact on cartography and geoinformatics is mutual, and the resulting methodological problem is their heterogeneity, not volume. To model them, it is proposed to use a data cube in which the spatial dimension is represented using discrete global grid systems with advantages over raster and vector models in application to that phenomenon. The content of the data cube is analysis-ready information.

Experimental studies of the accuracy of determining the plan and altitude coordinates were obtained from aerial photography materials and measured by a satellite receiver in real time. The study was conducted for aerial photography materials obtained from heights of 100 and 200 meters. In addition, the accuracy researched of using a different number of ground control points for georeferencing images – 18 and 5. Accuracy assessment was performed separately for the plain area and the area with rugged terrain.

The article substantiates that the most complete cartographic model, which comprehensively characterizes the objects and territories of the natural reserve fund (NRF) of Ukraine is the geo-ecological atlas. It is indicated that the basis for the creation of the atlas is its conceptual model, within the framework of the formulation of its provisions are defined: the object of modeling, structure and composition of the modeled system, the characteristics of its elements, as well as inherent in the system cause-effect relationships that are considered essential to achieve the purpose of modeling. The functions of the atlas of NRF are formulated. The formal features of its content are interconnected. The authors in the context of the formulation and use of methodological principles of atlas completing with maps (sequential-traditional; block-issue; combined) applied combined principle and determined the optimal thematic content of the atlas in the form of a list of maps, grouped by sections and blocks (three sections, each of which contains two blocks of maps). The types of maps included in each section / block are defined (mainly they are: analytical (inventory), analytical-synthetic (evaluation), synthetic (recommendation, forecast), for each of which the indicators of mapping and methods of cartographic representation are justified.

The authors describe the work at an interactive atlas concept, reflecting the historical facts of formation and development of the Engineering Geodesy Department. The onset of the atlas is associated with the use of advanced geoinformation and web technologies. Creating digital maps was carried out in the software environment QGIS (version 3.26.3), distribution using web browsers in the programming languages HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP. The source of the information for making thematic maps was archival materials, resources of the library fund, video libraries, open data of evidence and participants in the educational process, findings from websites and geoportals. The atlas is divided into 7 sections

This is the fifth article in a series of publications on improving the statistical quality of solving inverse photogrammetry tasks. As a consequence of the algorithms developed before, to improve the statistical quality of the equalization, the possibility of evaluating its accuracy results has become quite obvious and unexpected at the same time. The essence of the methods used to assess the exactness of direct and indirect measurements is described. Their shortcomings are noted. Based on the analysis of the algorithms for correcting, a new, alternative method for evaluating the mentioned results is proposed. Its advantages in comparison with known methods are noted. The main ones are
