In this short article, are presented the results of the exercises of conceptualization of design from lax syntax as the only indication in the composition of elements in the intuitive two-dimensional and three-dimensional exercise. This exploratory compositional exercise, as a methodology of design, allows that in the training of the designer an emphasis be made on the conceptualization in the structures of organization of elements on paper, giving as a result more creative and innovative proposals with a more clear and less coded message.

The concept of research is increasingly associated with everyday life, turning obsolete the close relationship it used to have with the application of the traditional scientific method, highlighting that there are alternatives to generate new knowledge forms in a context where the convergence between disciplines to address real problems is needed. These new conditions in research question the separation between research and creation. The concept of research-creation generates a debate in the current Colombian scene, where there has been finally and officially, a space for the recognition of the products of creative disciplines. Similarly, it is proposed that this new form of research has the potential to be appropriate for disciplines different from the creative ones, but that could use creativity to their research output.

This article presents an epistemological framework to identify and differentiate the various artifacts resulting from research in design disciplines. To do this, first the differences and similarities between the way of reasoning of science and design will be established. Second, the possible types of research that can result from design disciplines will be presented. Thirdly, artifacts resulting from these types of research with their respective scope and, finally, a specific type of prototype to evaluate the results of research from design disciplines will be proposed and discussed.
