Guided Digital Tours and Covid-19. Comparison of Cases in Europe and Definition of Models Grounded on Data
Abstract What is a virtual tour? Is a virtual tour the same as an online guided tour? When museums throughout Europe were closed during the lockdown they tried to offer their public digital experiences. This paper will analyse four cases (in Belgium, UK and Italy) and will attempt to identify and describe the different communication strategies and user experience models they adopted. The paper is based on notes collected using qualitative methods (case study, digital ethnography, narrative inquiry, grounded theory). Focus will be placed on the guided tours organized by Gallerie Estensi (Italy). The paper is also an attempt to define what an online guided tour is and the key elements of its design.

The article analyzes the history of restoration and decoration, at the end of the nineteenth century, of the entrance porch and ground-floor mosaic of the Ca’ d’Oro Palace on the Grand Canal in Venice. A letter written in 1897 by Camillo Boito to Giorgio Franchetti, recently found, confirms the involvement of Boito, so far only mentioned in literature, on the restoration of the building.

This article interrogates platform-specific bias in the contemporary algorithmic media landscape through a comparative study of the representation of pregnancy on the Web and social media. Online visual materials such as social media content related to pregnancy are not void of bias, nor are they very diverse. The case study is a cross-platform analysis of social media imagery for the topic of pregnancy, through which distinct visual platform vernaculars emerge. The authors describe two visualization methods that can support comparative analysis of such visual vernaculars: the image grid and the composite image. While platform-specific perspectives range from lists of pregnancy tips on Pinterest to pregnancy information and social support systems on Twitter, and pregnancy humour on Reddit, each of the platforms presents a predominantly White, able-bodied and heteronormative perspective on pregnancy.

Observation, Drawing, Modeling. Elements of a Cognitive Process Between Analogic and Digital for Design Learning
Geometry accompanies the knowledge of space and places both intuitively and through cultural education. Some innate elements are at the base the instantaneous perception and processes of visual recognition of forms. Moreover, the theorical teaching and practical activities allow to structure visual and tactile and knowledge of primary geometric shapes, as well as the capacity for the mental modelling of space. Following a similar procedure in our Design Laboratory, both analogue and digital modeling methods are coherently explored through the assigned project. The results of some case studies, recently concluded, are presented here, oriented to the composition of elementary geometric elements for the construction of reticular architectural structures, and for the radio centric enquiry of vegetal elements. The aim of these experiences concerns the possibility of experimenting visual understanding, on the bases of drawing, modeled in an analogue way by hand, and then verified through digital procedures by means of modeling and rendering software. A further example concerns a modeling exercise, based on the Made in Italy Design collection of Triennale di Milano. These specific training courses took place within the framework of the new training methods defined in Italy in the recent Alternanza Scuola Lavoro guidelines (in collaboration with Parco Nord Milano and the Accademia—Fondazione Fiera Milano), where the training focus on soft skills is integrated with the learning in specific and ordinary didactic disciplines.
