Societal Impact Statement Plants provide oxygen, food, shelter, medicines and environmental services, without which human society could not exist. Tackling pressing and global challenges requires well‐trained plant scientists and plant‐aware individuals. This manifesto provides a practical evidence‐based vision to strengthen plant science education, focused on five strategic priorities. It is relevant to all stakeholders within plant science and beyond: from frontline educators to institutional leaders; from commercial or charitable professionals to entrepreneurs and donors; from individual community members to their legislative representatives. Strengthening plant science education demands concrete actions from all stakeholders, ultimately to the benefit of us all. Summary Plant science education needs urgent attention. Skilled plant scientists are needed to address major environmental and societal challenges, and global communities require plant‐aware professionals to drive impactful policy, research and environmental stewardship. This manifesto was collaboratively generated by a community of educators who gathered to reflect on the state of plant science education. The forward‐facing document provides a clear strategy for plant science education, complementing existing research strategies. Five themes were identified as essential for meeting the evolving needs of plant science, educators and learners: (i) plants must be at the centre of an education that addresses global challenges and societal values; (ii) plant science education must prepare students for their futures using bold and effective pedagogies; (iii) equity, diversity and inclusion must be robustly embedded in educational practices; (iv) local and strategic partnerships (with industry and beyond) are required to strengthen academic education; and (v) plant science educators need resources and opportunities to develop and connect. The manifesto is intended as a framework for change. Educators, funders, publishers, industry representatives, policymakers and all other members of our communities must commit to sustained investment in plant science education. By proactively and collectively embracing the recommendations provided, the sector has an opportunity to cultivate a new generation equipped with the knowledge, skills and passion to unlock the full potential of photosynthetic organisms.

A new deconvolution strategy, reverse curve fitting, was developed to determine peak positions and independent intensities of overlapping Fourier transform (FT) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) bands. From the third-order derivative of the overlapping band, the peak position was estimated from its zero-crossing point and the peak intensity was quantitated by partial curve matching with its primary maxima. Every matched peak in the overlapping band was dismembered in turn to weaken the overlap until an independent peak was filtered out. The deconvolution can be refined progressively by manually tuning the peak positions and peak widths. In a simulation study, a closely overlapped 13C NMR triplet (overlapping degrees between 0.5 and 1.0) at a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 20:1 was quantitatively deconvoluted by our reverse curve fitting procedure with a routine denoising technique. The noise interference and denoising technique were also studied in the simulation. A real FT-NMR overlapping band of Ethylbenzene (300 MHz) was satisfactorily deconvoluted and compatible with higher resolution literature spectral data. A more complicated overlapping NMR band of Tetraphenyl porphyrin was studied as well. This new approach to the deconvolutions is applicable to other FT spectroscopies.

This chapter reveals the strategy to determine the effectiveness of Quantum Machine Learning (QML) algorithms to work in the healthcare field, specifically when it comes to finding problems with heart valves. Mostly, many organizations are using the major advanced features of quantum computing technologies and hence there is some need in analyzing the features and implication strategies of Quantum computing. In this chapter, an advanced version of the H-Bert Classifier is applied to the Quantum framework for finding the various problems related to the heart. Normally 14 important variables are used from the dataset for determining the heart valves. H-Bert classifier is used here for improving the accuracy rate of classification. To maintain maximum accuracy some of the quantum computing algorithms like Quantum Logistic Regression (QLR), Quantum Nearest Neighbor (QKNN), and Quantum Linear Discriminant Analysis (QLDA) are used. The most complicated patterns in the dataset are determined effectively by using the Quantum computation mechanism with the H-Bert classifier. To normalize the obtained values while processing some advanced methods like principal component analysis (PCA), min-max scaling, and standard scalar methods, are used. H-Bert combines BERT classifier in addition to Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory Networks (BiLSTM). Then for making the detection process very accurate and sensitive minor details of the heart valve are to be picked out. The H-Bert Classifier with Quantum ensemble will do the process effectively and accurately. The entire implementation process is a sequential, step-by-step procedure. This pipeline process will make the scheme more efficient and performance-driven. Compared to the traditional machine learning algorithms the detection of heart valves is done most effectively by using this quantum algorithm. The improvement in the accuracy is guaranteed by the quantum algorithms in the determination of heart health diagnostics. Another advantage of using this hybrid methodology is its effectiveness in handling the computational cost. Especially in dealing with real-time parameters, it took very less time during execution. The study sheds light on the best ways to use quantum algorithms in healthcare and gives useful insights into the quantifiable benefits of using quantum machine learning for detecting heart valves. A major step forward in the efficient and accurate diagnosis of cardiac abnormalities has been the introduction of the H-Bert classifier in quantum machine learning. Both medical research and patient care stand to benefit substantially from this new development.

When Fourier transform (FT) spectrum peaks are overlapped, primary maxima of odd-order derivatives can be used to evaluate their independent intensities. We studied the feasibility of higher odd-order derivatives on Lorentzian peak shape and magnitude peak shape. Simulation studies for FT nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy demonstrated good results toward quantitative deconvolution of overlapping FT spectrum peaks. Although it is not so desirable to deconvolute special line shapes such as Gaussian, Voigt, and Tsallis profiles, the odd-order derivatives exhibit a bright future compared to even-order derivatives. An application example of practical NMR spectroscopy with ethylbenzene isomers is presented. White Gaussian noises were added to the simulated spectra at two different signal-to-noise ratios (20 and 40). Kauppinen's denoising and smoothing algorithms can effectively remove interference of the noise and help to have good deconvoluting results using the odd-order derivatives. We compared features of our approach with popular deconvolution sharpening algorithms and conducted a comparison study with Kauppinen's Fourier self-deconvolution. Our approach has a better dynamic range of peak intensities and is not sensitive to the sampling rates. Other common deconvolution methods are also discussed briefly.

This study investigated the effects of local microclimate and urban morphologies with respect to outdoor thermal comfort. Six Canadian cities in different climatic zones, geographical locations, and with various physical characteristics were chosen for this study: Whitehorse, Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal, Halifax, and St. Johns. Digital simulations were performed to determine the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) at three separate times of the day on a selected representative extreme hot and chilly day of the summer and winter week, respectively. The results show how the built environment, building shapes, layouts, and their heights, orientation significantly affect the local microclimate and outdoor thermal comfort of a place. The outcome of this research gives perspective for enhanced outdoor thermal comfort for publicopen spaces. This delivers ideas to planners and designers for creating places with improved thermal environments, where pedestrians can be more comfortable.

The management of the attendance can a huge burden on the teachers if it's done by hand. To solve this problem, a smart and auto attendance management system is being used. However, authentication is a significant issue in this system. The smart attendance system is commonly executed with the assistance of biometrics. Facial recognition is one of biometric methods to enhance this system. By using this framework, the situation of proxies and students being marked present despite their physical absence can easily be resolved. The main implementation steps used in these types of systems are facial detections and recognizing the detected faces. This paper suggests a model for implement an automated attendance management system for students of a class. The suggesting system makes the usage of Haar classifiers, OpenCV and LBPH algorithm. Following facial recognition, attendance reports will be produced and store in excel formats. The system is experimented under various conditions like illumination, head moves, the changes of distance between the student and cameras. After intensive testing, overall complexities and accuracies are calculated. The Suggested system demonstrated to be an effective and powerful device for taking attending in a classroom without any time use and manual works.
