Smart Analytics for a Motivated Workforce: Machine Learning Approaches to Employee Engagement Among Contractual Instructors
Enhancing Classification Algorithm Accuracy through Hybrid Pre-Processing Strategies
The accuracy of classification algorithms is significantly influenced by the quality and structure of input data. In this light, effective pre-processing is crucial for boosting the generalization capabilities of supervised machine learning models. This study addresses key challenges in data preparation, including the treatment of continuous attributes, imputation of missing values, and management of high-dimensional features. To overcome these obstacles, we propose an innovative hybrid preprocessing strategy that synthesizes multiple techniques into a unified framework. By tailoring specific methods to the characteristics of diverse datasets, this hybrid approach enhances both the accuracy and robustness of the classification results. Through the promotion of intelligent, data-driven solutions that can be applied in multiple sectors, the findings support the Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9), which focuses on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
Read moreChemsketch in Improving Student Performance in Hydrocarbons
This study investigates the effectiveness of Chemsketch as an instructional tool to enhance the performance of Grade 11 STEM students in the topic of Hydrocarbons within the General Chemistry curriculum at the University of Luzon. Despite the relevance of Chemistry in industrial applications, many students perceive it as an abstract and challenging subject. Consequently, traditional teaching methods often fail to engage students effectively. Utilizing computer visualization tools like Chemsketch, this research aims to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical understanding. The experimental design involved thirty students in an experimental group utilizing Chemsketch, compared to thirty students in a control group receiving traditional instruction. Data were gathered through pre-tests and post-tests, employing statistical analyses including the Independent T-Test and Paired T-Test to assess performance differences between the two groups. Results indicated that before the intervention, both groups scored below average, highlighting a need for effective instructional methods. However, post-test results showed significant improvements in the experimental group, underscoring the positive impact of Chemsketch on student comprehension and performance. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating innovative teaching tools in Chemistry education to enhance learning outcomes, ultimately aiming to improve students' performance in national assessments.
Read morePublic Schools Personnels’ Motivation and Competence and their Performance
This study sought to assess the relationship between public school personnel’s motivation and competence and their performance. Particularly, it aimed determine the level of the level of the public school personnel’s performance; the level of the public school personnel’s motivation in performing their tasks in terms of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation; the level of the public school personnel’s competence in performing their tasks in terms of technical, communication, organizational, problem-solving, teamwork, and professionalism; and find out the significant relationship between public school personnel's level of motivation and competence and their performance. This study utilized a descriptive-correlational research design and employed mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s correlation for its statistical analysis. A total of sixty-nine non-teaching personnel from all the schools in the division of Valencia City were included. To collect the relevant data to answer the problem statement of the study, the researcher developed a motivation and competence assessment survey questionnaire and utilized their latest performance rating. Results revealed that performance of the public-school personnel was generally "outstanding." They have a very high level of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and also showed very high level of competence. More importantly, the study has shown a positive association between motivation and the performance of public-school personnel. Moreover, the relationship between public school personnel's level of competence and their performance have shown a strong positive association. It is important to note that schools can continue to nurture internal motivation by providing opportunities for personnel to engage in meaningful tasks and roles that align with their values and passions. To support ongoing growth and high performance, regular training programs may be implemented to enhance skills and build competence. Additionally, encouraging personnel to reflect on their performance and identify areas for improvement can further strengthen their professional development. Emphasizing the importance of ethics, confidentiality, and respectful behavior remains essential, and school leaders play a crucial role in ensuring that staff clearly understand performance expectations and how their individual contributions support the school’s overall success.
Read moreUnveiling silent struggles of workplace bullying: a qualitative phenomenological study from Middle-Eastern context
BackgroundIn Oman, research on workplace bullying remains in its nascent stage, with a notable lack of qualitative studies that delve into the lived experiences of victims. This qualitative phenomenological study seeks to address this gap by exploring the lived experiences and consequences of workplace bullying among Omani victims.MethodsData were collected from Omani employees from diverse professional backgrounds through in-depth interviews, and the data were analysed based on interpretive phenomenological analysis using NVivo software.ResultsThe results revealed key themes of the consequences of workplace bullying, highlighting the emotional, psychological and physical health issues, spillover effects to family, absenteeism, low performance and intention to quit. Additionally, lack of awareness and support systems were found to exacerbate the victims' sufferings.ConclusionThis study explored the impact of workplace bullying among Omani employees in pursuit of the United Nations SDG goals 8 (decent work and economic growth). The findings underscore the urgent need for culturally sensitive anti-bullying policies, awareness programs and support systems within organizations in Oman. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on workplace bullying in the Middle-Eastern context, offering insights for policymakers, and human resource professionals to create a safer and inclusive work environment in Oman.
Read moreMulti-Stakeholder Analysis on Tourism Development in Zambales, Philippines

Based from the findings, the researcher concluded that the three groups of stakeholders such as; Local government unit, management/customer service office and customers/guests, had important contribution for the sustainable tourism development in the province of Zambales. The results of this study provide a better understanding of the perceptions held by tourism stakeholders towards the current state of the tourism industry and how it could be developed holistically. The tourism development in Zambales described as high extent as to political, economic, socio-cultural, technological, legal and environmental factor. The results concluded that tourism development could significantly contribute to economic growth in the province of Zambales through creating new business opportunities to improve standard of living of the community by providing employment. In this regard, in order to improve the current situation of tourism industry, Strategic Development Plan for Sustainable Tourism is proposed. Provincial government of Zambales must design and formulate programs to integrate tourism requirements into all levels of local government unit and would have to take a visionary local government official who has the grit to literally fight for a well-defined and managed tourism industry because it is a chance for municipalities to move up through the help of tourism, yet it requires the cooperation or input of every social and institutional organization such as stakeholders. Concerns and consumers’ awareness of the environment has increased significantly, and their perception of environmental concerns now represents one of the major factors in consumer decision making. The main aim of this study is to determine the relationship of environmental consciousness and involvement degree on consumers’ purchasing behavior. Factors affecting environmentally friendly behaviors will be explained within the context of attitude, intention, and behavior with a holistic approach. TRA Model (Theory of Reasoned Action) will be expanded by adding variables that express individual consumer characteristics. Besides, the data will be gathered via an online survey from various participants who live in Metro Manila, where people from different socio-economic backgrounds are thought to be heavily dispersed and located. Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) was used to study the relationship and analyze the connection between variables. Results of PLS-SEM revealed that environmental consciousness (ß = 0.38; p = 0.001) and involvement degree (ß = 0.311; p = 0.001) have significant effects on respondent’s attitude in purchasing eco-friendly products. Moreover, both the environmental consciousness (ß = 0.423; p = 0.001) and involvement degree (ß = 0.46; p = 0.001) have direct significant effects in respondent’s behavior in purchasing eco-friendly products. Based on the statistical analyses, this paper offers some further research directions to advance the extent of the literature. This study offers valuable insights for eco-friendly brands that offer products by indicating two important dimensions, which are the environmental consciousness and involvement degree of consumers upon purchasing.
