Sustainable development needs responsible corporations. Corporations should aim for sustainability of their development; that is, moving forward in developing all aspects dynamically in both internal and external aspects of the corporations. In other words, sustainable development ensures that a company grow with its resources, especially its intellectual resources and human capital and at the same time contribute to the community development and environmental preservation. The concepts of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development (SD) developed in the West should not be adopted without proper adoption and adaptation to Asian values. Something that works well in the West may not work in Asia. Therefore CSR and sustainability development need to be acculturated to Asian environment and values to gain a success. This chapter will explore and discuss the development of CSR and sustainability development in major Asian countries: China, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. China, India and Indonesia represent developing countries with large population while the last three countries represent developed countries. China, Japan, South Korea and Singapore share Asian values influenced by Confucian ethics, Indians root their values in Hinduism while Indonesian values are highly influenced by Islam.

The relevance of the topic of the article is due to the importance of the concept of sustainable development for the successful functioning of enterprises in the new reality. The purpose of the article is to analyze the concept of sustainable development in the projection of modern transformational trends. Tasks: to consider the evolution of the conceptual provisions of sustainable development; perform an analysis of the UN sustainable development goals in the context of the formation of the “green” agenda; assess the impact of the digital transformation trend on sustainable development goals; identify new opportunities for implementing the concept in a new reality; identify ESG transformation risks and digital transformation risks. Methods. System approach, logical analysis, synthesis. Results. In modern conditions of the functioning of economic systems, sustainable development goals are a guideline for developing strategies not only at the state level, but also at the level of individual companies; ESG transformation is a new vector of business development. As a result of the development of globalization and the strengthening of the influence of transnational corporations, the focus of the concept of sustainable development has shifted from the national level to the corporate one. The general direction of the ESG approach to managing the development of economic systems at all levels will be set by international trends. To the greatest extent, the UN Sustainable Development Goals correlate with the social criterion (11 goals), while the environmental criterion and the criterion of corporate governance account for 8 goals each. Full coincidence in all ESG criteria is observed for two goals (“Industrialization, innovation and infrastructure; “Responsible consumption and production”). The most significant for companies in the short term are environmental and social risks; in the long term, the most significant criterion is “assessment of climate risks at the asset level”. When developing and implementing corporate strategies, it is necessary to take into account ESG risks, as well as possible threats to economic security (resource substitution, growth of intellectual property, cyberattacks, industrial espionage). Findings. The updated concept of sustainable development makes it possible to ensure economic growth when it is balanced with the needs of society to improve the quality of life, prevent degradation of the natural environment, but subject to ensuring safety and security.

This chapter aims to encourage corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable tourism development in global tourism, thus describing the theoretical and practical concept of CSR; CSR and corporate financial performance (CFP); the overview of sustainable tourism development; the significance of CSR in global tourism; the significance of sustainable tourism development in global tourism; sustainable tourism development and stakeholders; and sustainable tourism development and environmental situations. The accomplishment of CSR and sustainable tourism development is vital for tourism businesses that seek to serve suppliers and customers, increase business performance, strengthen competitiveness, and attain regular success in global tourism. Thus, it is necessary for tourism businesses to encourage their CSR and sustainable tourism development toward satisfying customers' needs. The chapter argues that encouraging CSR and sustainable tourism development has the potential to enhance organizational performance and gain sustainable competitive advantage in global tourism.

Relevance: In an era of rapid digital transformation, the labor market in Kazakhstan faces new challenges and opportunities. This research explores the development of the labor market in the context of Kazakhstan's digital economy, with a focus on sustainable development principles. Background: The authors have identified nine scientific schools that can be applied to investigate the development of the labor market in Kazakhstan's digital economy within the framework of sustainable development. Digital transformation is a key focus in this context, as it impacts the economy, society, and the labor market. Methods: The study draws on the principles and approaches of these nine scientific schools to analyze the development of the labor market in Kazakhstan. This includes examining initiatives such as Digital Kazakhstan and various international digital transformation efforts. Results: The authors find that digital transformation initiatives in different countries share common goals, such as enhancing the competitiveness, innovation, and productivity of the manufacturing sector while addressing workforce development and creating new job opportunities. The Digital Kazakhstan initiative also follows these goals, aiming to improve the country's economic competitiveness through digital transformation. Conclusion: By considering the nine scientific schools and their applications, a deeper understanding of the labor market's development in Kazakhstan can be achieved in the context of digital transformation and sustainable development. The authors recommend that Kazakhstan focuses on key areas such as education, workforce development, innovation, entrepreneurship, digital infrastructure, industry-academia collaboration, targeted strategies for key industries, public-private partnerships, supportive regulatory frameworks, social inclusion, sustainability, and international cooperation to successfully develop its labor market and ensure sustainable growth.

Sustainability and sustainable development: A review of principles and definitions

This paper discusses several concepts that can be used to provide a foundation for a unified, theory of rational, economic behavior. First, decision-making is defined to be a process that takes place with reference to both ‘subjective’ and ‘objective’ time, that distinguishes between plans and actions, between information and states and that explicitly incorporates the collection and processing of information. This conception of decision making is then related to several important aspects of ‘behavioral economics’, the dependence of values on experience, the use of behavioral rules, the occurrence of multiple goals and environmental feedback.

Topicality. The concept of sustainable development synthesizes anthropocentric and biospherecentric principles and provides for optimal use in the economic and non-economic processes of the natural component, aligning the impact of man on nature and the ability of the latter to bear anthropogenic load, which will provide the ability of future generations to satisfy ecological needs. As people and their needs are at the center of socio-economic development, the notion of "sustainable human development" associated with the process of expanding individual choices in various fields is becoming increasingly relevant today: from guaranteeing economic, social and political rights and freedoms to the possibilities of creative self-realization and improvement. Aim and tasks. Despite the extensive study of sustainable development in the domestic and foreign scientific environment, a detailed study of the genesis of the concepts of "sustainable development" and "sustainability", as well as the components of sustainable development, is required. The purpose of the article is to review, systematize and analyze approaches to sustainable development, and compare them, as well as to formulate a paradigm of sustainability from the first appearance of the prerequisites of this concept to the origins and generalization of the genesis of the concept of sustainable development. Research results. Therefore, the result of the study is the formation of the paradigm of sustainability from the first appearance of the preconditions of this concept to the origins and generalization of the genesis of the concept of sustainable development. Thus, the inclusion of only three components in the concept of sustainable development (society, economy, environment) is common practice, but it is not the only correct component. Conclusion. Given the uncertainty in the domestic scientific environment of the system of sustainable development and the lack of complete analysis of approaches to its implementation, it is necessary to review and systematize these approaches, to compare them. This will allow us to understand sustainable development, not as an abstract phenomenon, but as a truly global paradigm for human survival in the third millennium, the transition to which is a translational process.

Purpose – The research focuses on the analysis of hundreds of articles on the promotion of ethical and moral values for corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development. This theoretical framework analyzes the CSR, ethical values, and sustainable development in terms of relevance and efficiency, and asks why these points are relevant, and what they have in common in terms of obstacles and drivers for social performance. This paper also tries to identify who will be the winners of all these strategies implemented on a local and global level. Several lines of thought emerge in the context of this theoretical analysis of academic texts and reports. Indeed, factors related to education and vocational training, communication, the sphere of influence of the company, culture, governance and performance evaluation of the CSR actions are paramount. Given the multiplicity of actors, this research has not identified a specific category of actors as being the only winner of the promotion of sustainable development. Our theoretical analysis advocates a new business practice that takes into greater account the ecological, economic and social challenges. The research also proposes the setting up of policies aimed at drastically reducing the economic and social inequalities in order to promote certain ethical and moral values of social responsibility and sustainable development of enterprises and countries. Each region is specific with regards to its sociological context, and in harmonizing global and local challenges. The discourses are still different, even when the conceptual framework of CSR is understood. What is the significance of responsibility? Given the aforesaid, what is conventional here, could be unconventional somewhere else. This would dictate the lack of a coherent approach in the creation of a global village. We emphasize that education plays a crucial role in understanding the practices of CSR and sustainable development management. From this perspective, it is necessary to nest or coordinate the conceptual and operational strategies of the company, so that intentions can be translated into concrete and consistent practices.

The concept of sustainable tourism development is derived from sustainable development. Building tourism with the framework of sustainable development has become a necessary effective way. This study examined the abstracts and titles of 1783 sustainable development and 692 sustainable tourism development related papers from 2012 to 2021 as textual data sources through the Web of Science core database. Using text mining and semantic network as analysis methods, this paper summarizes eight main clusters of sustainable development and sustainable tourism development in the past 10 years. Based on this, this paper compares the differences between the two researches and explores four potential research areas in sustainable tourism development: (1) threats to sustainability; (2) ecology and health; (3) stakeholder cooperation and roles; and (4) tourism development planning. In addition, the visual network knowledge structure intuitively captures the relationship between the different keywords in the clustering, which provides an important reference value for broadening the future research direction of sustainable tourism development.

The terms "sustainability" and "sustainable development" are now widely used in various fields of human activity. Such collocations as "sustainable universities", "sustainable companies", etc. are not rarely to be found. The use of this terminology has become particularly popular in the context of tangible climate change. For this reason, the concept of sustainable development has been used in rural development studies for quite a long time. In different countries of the world, using this concept for analyzing rural development has both positive and negative sides. In the Russian Federation, there are regulations ("rules of the game") and institutions ("players") that shape the institutional environment for sustainable rural development. In fact, sustainability and prosperity of rural areas in Russia, and in Siberian Federal District in particular, will depend on how the institutional environment is structured. This article attempts to describe the existing institutional environment for the sustainable development of rural areas. Analyzing existing legal acts and the key actors in the field, we have designed the institutional framework, which allows to determine the vector of development of rural areas. This vector can be used in forecasting the achievement of threshold values established by regulatory legal acts of both Federal and regional significance.

The article is aimed at substantiating sustainable development as an objective reason for the implementation of environmental policy and an object of managerial influence. The article states that the economic development of Ukraine, without taking into account the principles of placement of productive forces, which are guided by the needs and conditions of social development to ensure its sustainability, has led to the crisis ecological state of our country. This requires building a process of interaction in the «nature – society» system, taking into account the conception of sustainable development, which should be implemented in environmental policy. In the authors’ interpretation of the concept of «environmental policy», the emphasis is placed on the process, systemic, strategic, functional, managerial, instrumental aspects of ensuring the environmental development of the State and on the principles of response and prevention. It is substantiated that in the context of ensuring sustainable development, the role of the regional and local levels of management of its environmental component through managerial activities is increasing. On a specific example, a conclusion is made about the imperfection of the solid waste management system in Ukraine and proposals for its improvement are formed, covering all subsystems of environmental regulation. The shortcomings of the managerial activity of the subject composition, which complement the systemic problems of modern environmental policy, are allocated. Sustainable local development is presented as a set of goal-oriented, synchronous, step-by-step actions that differ from each other in direction, subject and object composition, as well as as integrity that includes the environmental component among others. The Ukrainian State, adhering to world civilizational standards, must provide such conditions for social development in order to ensure its sustainability. One of these conditions is the construction of the process of interaction in the system «nature – man (society)» based on the conception of sustainable development, which, in turn, should be implemented in environmental policy. Decentralization processes, expansion of the range of powers of regional and local authorities, local self-government bodies strengthen the role of regional and local levels of government in ensuring sustainable development. The imperfection of the solid waste management system in Ukraine, verified by a specific example, made it possible to form proposals for improving this system with coverage of all subsystems of environmental regulation. Environmental policy, through which environmental development is ensured, is implemented through the managerial activity of its subjects, and the shortcomings inherent in this activity must be eliminated. Under such conditions, sustainable local development will become a system that is represented by a set of goal-oriented, synchronous, step-by-step actions that differ from each other in direction, subject and object composition, as well as integrity, where the environmental component is of importance.

The horrors of Taiwan’s 921 Earthquake and 88 Flood undoubtedly demonstrated the power of nature, allowing us to observe the tensions between the natural environment and civilization and to understand the various imbalances in the interactive relationship between the sky, the land, and the human race encountered during urban developments. Today, the “city” has adoptedthe important role of an arena that corresponds to the governance of the environment. This contains two meanings. One is as a source of strength for the increasing collective consciousness of society; the other is as a practice field for changing the spatial environment. Previously, urban planning was established based on the “economy,”adopted actions from “space,” and determined the problems of the “environment” and “society.” However, we are currently facing a counterattack from the forces of nature, which include climate change. Thus, we must even more urgently consider the relationship between humanity and nature. Therefore, sustainable development in city planning must adjust the relationshipsamong the natural ecology, economic development, and humanistic society to facilitate a rich and diverse ecological environment, a flourishing economic environment, and a safe and peaceful life environment.Thus, an urban environment that is suitable for inhabitance can be created. This study employs three cases as subjects, using “green” and “places” as the main axes of the design mode of operation, creating feasible strategies for the ecology of “green” and “places,” and facilitating low-carbon and creative urban developments. This study realizes sustainable building concepts and practices at different levels in anticipation that the regional physical environment can satisfy users’ demands and create a safe, healthy life environment, providing another feasible reference for building strategies in the “green” and “places” of Taiwan’s urban and rural landscape. The primary research method used in this study is a review of relevant literature on sustainable urban development. This literature review is also performed to understand the concepts, meanings, and principles of “sustainability” and “sustainable cities” and the models and characteristics of sustainable urban development to provide a theoretical foundation for sustainability strategies. In addition, we analyze the conditions and structures of sustainable urban development and the bases of sustainable development models for urban space. Sustainable environmental construction, the reuse of cultural assets, and the application of green technology are applied as operating directions. Case operations of design in actual regions are used to provide rural and urban planning concepts, development principles, and building strategies under the concepts of sustainable development.

The article considers the transition from the empirical to the theoretical level of in-depth research of the term "economic behavior" of individuals. It is determined that the political and economic direction of research will provide a detailed objective definition of the internal economic reasons for the choice of an individual behavioral model.It isshown that economic behavior is a "reflection", an external form of economic activity of society, individual entities and their groups. The economic behavior of individuals is studied mainly from the standpoint of the empirical level of scientific knowledge. In this sense, the term reflects the real economic activity in which the subjects operate, from the outside, as a form of manifestation of their economic activity. It is the political and economic direction of research in economic theory that clarifies not only the external factors of influence or internal physiological reasons for an individual's actions, but also the internal objective grounds for forming a certain behavioral model that realizes primarily economic interests and sub status. in production and economic activities, in the process of reproduction of production, distribution, exchange, or market, consumer relations of society. Within the political and economic direction of research, structural and process-reproductive approaches are used in this way, which significantly enriches the theoretical and empirical research of the term "economic behavior". Thus, we must conclude that there is a need for in-depth analysis of behavior patterns not only of individuals but also of other economic actors, gradually moving from the empirical to the theoretical level of research, and linking behavioral patterns with changes in economic activity, and finally , with transformations of property relations and socialstatuses ofsubjects, instead of with any secondary and tertiary, etc. factors.It is determined that the deep basis of changes in models of economic behavior of individuals are changes in their economic activities, property relations, social status of the subjects of a particular society. The consequences of the application of psychophysical, behavioral, economic-sociological, economic-institutional, economic-legal directions of research, which clarify the influence of non-economic (mental, subjective-psychological, mental, legal, etc.)factors on the choice of models of human economic behavior, are described.
