Automated TPS rehost software

The next generation automatic test system (NGATS) is the latest addition to the Integrated family of test equipment (IFTE) developed and managed by product manager, test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (PM TMDE). This is Version 6 of what is commonly known as the Base Shop Test Facility series of systems developed by the off platform, automatic test system program. NGATS is a reconfigurable, general-purpose, mobile, deployable, automatic test system designed to provide sustainment support to all Army weapon systems. This flexible testing platform will finally standardize and reduce the quantity of the Army's ATE systems to one modern tester and improve weapon system availability. It will allow for a decrease in logistical support requirements for ATE systems and the supported weapons systems and increase the mobility, deployability, affordability and supportability, of automated test equipment. NGATS assures compliance with Joint NxTest architecture and will support the agile rapid global combat support (ARGCS) advanced concept technology demonstration (ACTD) by using a common framework for DOD automatic test systems (ATS). Incremental deployment of this system will ultimately modernize and replace three existing test platforms, DSESTS, BSTF (V) 3, and BSTF (V) 5. NGATS will not only support the weapons systems currently fielded but will also support additional weapons systems as they are developed and fielded in the future. The NGATS will initially take advantage of the existing Test Program Sets for legacy weapons systems however new systems and those legacy systems that will remain in the Army inventory will have TPSs designed to take full advantage of the modern NGATS technology. Increment 1 replaces DSESTS and supports the weapons systems in the heavy brigade combat team (HBCT). The TPSs for Abrams, Bradley and other systems will be rehosted to NGATS with significant improvements. Increment 2 replaces BSTF (V) 3 and supports the MLRS, Avenger, Paladin, TOW, SINCGARS, Kiowa Warrior, Ground Based Sensor, G/VLLD, and M1A1 (SRUs) systems. Increment 3 replaces BSTF (V) 5 and supports the Kiowa Warrior and Apache. There has been increased interest in utilizing the IFTE NGATS as an Army organic sustainment support platform. Other systems that are candidates for support are KNIGHT, LLDR, STRYKER, FCS, Firefinder, LOSAT, NLOS, HIMARS, Land Warrior, SHORADS, TAD, and CROWS.

The development of various parts of DoD Automatic Test Systems (ATSs), follows a costly process starting with the description of the products to be tested through fielding and operation of the ATS items. Insufficient implementation of standards in the ATS process is, to a large part, the reason for the high cost and risk. The IEEE Standards Coordinating Committee 20 (SCC20) is endeavoring to provide standards that address concerns of developing ATS and reducing associated costs. Two IEEE test standards are currently used by the Integrated Family of Test Equipment (IFTE). This paper investigates the potential benefits of greater use of IEEE standards during the development and maintenance cycles of IFTE and the associated Test Program Sets.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">&gt;</ETX>

The DoD has achieved success with recent automatic test equipment (ATE) families, as evidenced by the navy's consolidated automated support system (CASS) and the army's integrated family of test equipment (IFTE) programs. However, as these systems age, the increased requirements for technology insertion due to instrument obsolescence and the demands of advanced electronics are becoming evident. Recent advances in test technology promise to yield reduced total ownership costs (TOC) for ATE which can incorporate the new technology. The DoD automatic test system (ATS) executive agent office (EAO) objective is to significantly reduce total ownership cost. Several objectives have been identified including use of synthetic instruments, support for legacy test product sets (TPSs), and more efficient ways of developing TPSs. The NxTest software architecture will meet the objectives by providing an open systems approach to the system software. This will allow for the incorporation of commercial applications in the TPS development and execution environments and support current advances in test technology.

The results of the development of an automated diagnostic setup for measuring the non-uniformity of the photoresponse of solar cells using the Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments (SCPI) language are presented. SCPI is a standard syntax and commands for use in controlling programmable testing and measuring devices, such as automatic test equipment and electronic test equipment.

Testing FPGA switching characteristics on general purpose electronic test equipment(GPETE) test platform has much lower financial cost and more accessibility than testing on Automatic Test Equipment(ATE). However, when testing on GPETE platform, test accuracy is more easily influenced by device under test(DUT) board and test equipment, and some kinds of stimuli such as maximum frequency stimulus is difficult to impose. This paper presents several test methods aiming to ensure the test accuracy and solve maximum frequency stimulus imposing problem of GPETE test platform. Our methods are: 1) Time-to-Digital Converter(TDC) method to reduce test equipment's impact on test accuracy; 2) Comparing technique to eliminate delay interference from DUT board and extra delay path inside the chip; and 3) Digital Clock Manager(DCM) method to solve maximum stimulus imposing problem. Test results of XC4VLX200 FPGA shows that our methods have a relatively good accuracy and the stimulus imposing problem has been solved to some extent.

This paper takes a look at some of the more common methods being used for circuit card test and repair. Examining the high and low end techniques, prepares the way to explore mid-range capabilities that can augment both. For the most part circuit card repair is carried out using low cost General Purpose Electronic Test Equipment (GPETE) or high cost Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) utilizing Test Program Sets (TPS). Whereas both methods have their advantages they leave a gap between the technologies used and the practical aspect. This paper, highlights an alternative method being adopted by various branches of the US government to increase the repair capabilities within the military.

In order to achieve the desired software quality, it is necessary to have information about the existing standards in this field and follow them in all phases of the software life cycle. This study emphasizes the importance of applying the standards in the field of software quality. In the last 20 years, the International Organization for Standards has played an important role in the development of quality standards of a number of software products. At the beginning of this work, the evolution of standards in the field of software quality is summarized and then the current series ISO/IEC standard called SQuaRE are described in detail. This area is very important because the knowledge of software quality standards and their application contributes to the development of quality software that will be widely used and durable. The application of the described standards and the evaluation approaches for the quantification of software quality depends on the resources available for carrying out the method (time, money, the number of evaluators and their expertise, the number of users for testing, facilities and test equipment), the required level of objectivity and its application to various stages of the development of applications.

A discussion is presented of the principles, criteria, and techniques employed to carry out successfully an investigation into the practicability of multipurpose missile system test equipment. The prototype system subsequently built has demonstrated its operational flexibility, simplified testing procedures, and greater ease of maintenance.

Traditionally, automated test equipment (ATE) manufacturers have been producing test systems to meet the needs of the electronic industry and research organizations. There is however another fairly large ATE market that has not been addressed by ATE-educational institutes and universities. Issues related to the electronic test equipment for educational institutions are discussed in this paper. It identifies the requirements to implement a test engineering program in the university environment, the challenges that face both university and industry, and strategies that can be adopted to meet these requirements. It provides a general roadmap that allows customization to suit emerging test engineering developments that may occur future. Consideration is given to a pragmatic, and cost effective collaboration between the academic and industrial worlds.

The development of equipments and techniques for making measurements on underwater transducers is described. The Naval Air Development Center used a circular tank with no special linings, and directed its effort to develop a suitable electronic pulse test equipment. It is concluded that the accuracy and reliability of the calibration facilities, measurement techniques, and the use of the round wooden tank are satisfactory for most underwater transducer evaluations.

In response to the actual requirements of the direction finding test of the electronic countermeasures equipment, this paper establishes the direction finding model of the interferometer, the direction finding defuzzification algorithm, and analyzes the direction finding error of the interferometer. The model and algorithm were verified by simulation, and the main indicators were clarified in combination with actual equipment tests. An orthogonal test method was designed. The test was carried out with the direction finding range, test frequency, and signal-to-noise ratio direction finding baseline as factors, which reduced the number of tests. Obtain valid test results. It can provide technical support for the test and appraisal of electronic countermeasures equipment.
