Information and Communication Technology (ICT) such as the World Wide Web (WWW) has increasingly become embedded in everyday life and is progressively becoming indispensable for public, business, personal efficiency or even improvement of livelihoods [1]. Web users including People with Disabilities (PWDs) can conveniently undertake a number of tasks that would otherwise be difficult or impossible. But many Web applications such as e-learning, e-commerce and e-government are not accessible to PWDs including the blind. Through Web accessibility guidelines, Web developers can develop Web applications that are accessible to PWDs. However, majority of the available accessibility guidelines are difficult to integrate into existing developer workflows and rarely offer specific suggestions that are developer oriented. In this paper, we propose a Web Design Framework for Improved Accessibility for People with Disabilities (WDFAD). The WDFAD provides precise guidelines on how to develop Web applications that are accessible to PWDs particularly the blind. These are packaged according to the three components of Web applications namely; content, navigation and user interface. Using constructs of the Non Functional Requirements (NFR) Framework, Web accessibility design objectives are represented as primary goals and sub goals. The primary goals represent the high level accessibility design objectives, while the sub goals represent the requirements that need to be met in the Web development process in order to meet each primary goal. WDFAD also illustrates the overlaps between the process of meeting each primary goal. This unveils the optimal ways of achieving Web accessibility during Web design. The precise nature of WDFAD and its packaging according to the main components of Web applications makes Web accessibility requirements potentially easier to understand and apply by Web developers. Web Developers prefer precise and familiar tools due to their busy work life and daily interface and expression in formal instructions. In addition, the global versus local classification of Web accessibility requirements in WDFAD modularizes the web accessibility guidelines hence making them easier to understand, apply and update.

Web Application Development has shown progressive and rapid growth using various techniques. Nonetheless, web application security is a major component in web development that is often overlooked or not properly focused on. Due to ad hoc existence and poor code written, most available web applications are vulnerable and desirable target for the attackers. To alleviate this issue, the use of defensive programming basic technique allows the developers to develop secure applications. Defensive programming includes validate output and correctly manages error messages. This avoids the misuse of snippets and builds the program in a consistent way despite unpredictable inputs. The purpose of this paper is twofold. Firstly, this paper discussed the development of a web application program using PHP as server-side scripting exploiting defensive programming techniques to overwhelm web application vulnerabilities. Secondly, this paper examined common vulnerabilities of web application risks refer to Open Web Application Security Project to validate the effectiveness of defensive programming technique. The work presented in this paper shall be a fundamental guideline for the development of secure web-based applications.

Integrating security in the software development life cycle has been a significant concern for researchers, security professionals and software developers. Security frameworks help to improve security in SDLC and mitigate threats by promoting the use of best practices. While in the presence of such best practices, security is somehow considered to be an afterthought and often leaves us with insecure software. Insecure web development makes web applications vulnerable to security threats like injection attacks, data breaches, privilege escalation, CSRF and other threats. This research based on mixed methods approach aims to provide valuable insights for security professionals and web application developers regarding the use of security frameworks to map threats for secure web development. Security frameworks including NIST SSDF, OWASP top 10, OWASP SAMM, SAFECode 3rd edition and BSIMM13 are involved for this purpose. The goal is to address the gap by leveraging these security frameworks to systematically map threats in web development environment. The research will aim to provide a comprehensive methodology for identifying potential security risks, analysing their impact and recommending security measures tailored to specifically web development environment. To achieve this, a comparative study of security frameworks, testing of web applications has been conducted to achieve the results.

In the development and design of Web application, the choice of framework development is very important. A good framework development can speed up the development of Web application, reduce development costs and the workload of developers. Meanwhile, Web application has good expansibility and portability. The framework based on SpringMVC + Spring + Mybatis (SSM) has good performance and rapid development efficiency, gradually becoming a mainstream development framework of Web application.

Providing students with the expertise of scientific and practical skills in Web development requires good preparation and practical competencies, the formation of positive attitudes toward the given course and determining suitable learning outcomes is one of the most important trends and issues in instructional design and technology. One of the most important challenges in this paper is to develop the relatively old course plan to cope with the rapid developments in the world of web application development, this requires Curriculum mapping to identify and address academic gaps, and redundancies. For purposes of improving the overall coherence of the course, its relationship with the other prerequisite courses should be explained more, some learning outcomes may be achieved through more than one course, therefore this study traced other related courses to the problem statement, such as Object-Oriented-Programming (OOP), Software Modelling and Design and other courses. This interconnected set of courses was motivated by the idea of Crosscutting concepts (CCCs) in Web Application Development, such as design patterns, Model-View-Controller (MVC), Entity Framework, Object Relational Mapping, Application Programming Interface (API), and others. This paper proposed some best practices and guidelines to take students gradually from a simple to more complicated tasks in learning Web development.

End-user development is proposed as a solution to the issues business people have when getting web applications developed. In this paper, we have presented a meta-model for web based information systems to support End-user Development. End-users can actively participate in web application development using tools to populate and instantiate the meta-model. The meta-model we created is based on three abstraction levels: Shell, Application, and Function. At Shell Level, we model aspects common to all business web applications such as navigation and access control. At Application Level, we model aspects common to specific web applications such as workflows. At Function Level, we model requirements specific to the identified use cases. Inheritance and Overriding properties of the meta-model provide a balance between ease and flexibility when developing business information systems. The key aspect that underpinned this research work is the view- “software is a medium to capture knowledge rather than a product”. Meta-model will help end-users to participate in web application development activities.

Comparison of development methodologies in web applications

The article explores in detail the methodologies for developing web applications for medical clinics using the popular React library. The main goal of this study is the analysis of modern approaches to the creation of web applications that meet the specific requirements of medical institutions. Particular attention is paid to the functional and non-functional characteristics that are critical to such systems, including data security, user experience, integration with existing systems, and compliance with regulatory standards. First of all, a comprehensive analysis of the requirements of medical clinics for web applications was carried out. Data security is one of the most important aspects as healthcare institutions work with sensitive information. The study examines methods for ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of medical data, including compliance with HIPAA and GDPR standards. React makes it easy to integrate modern security tools such as JWT (JSON Web Tokens) for authentication and authorization, and use secure HTTP connections for data transfer. In addition, special attention is paid to the user experience (UX/UI), which should ensure the convenience and efficiency of using the web application by both medical personnel and patients. React allows you to create dynamic and interactive interfaces that can adapt to different devices and screens, thus providing a high-quality user experience. This is especially important for medical applications, where the accuracy and speed of interaction can affect the quality of healthcare delivery. A detailed description of best practices and approaches to web application development using React is provided. A component architecture is considered, which provides modularity and code reuse, which is a key factor in creating scalable and easily maintainable applications. Different methods of state management in the application, such as the use of Context API and Redux, have been explored, which allows for efficient data management and stable operation of the application. Guidelines for configuring routing using the React Router library are described, allowing you to create dynamic and multi-page applications while providing smooth navigation and a good user experience. In addition, ways to ensure application security are considered, including protection against XSS attacks, CSRF and other types of vulnerabilities, which is critical in medical applications. The article provides specific recommendations for implementing a web application for a medical clinic. They include practical code examples that demonstrate the implementation of key functionalities such as user registration and authentication, medical record processing, and database interaction. The process of setting up the infrastructure for development, testing and deployment of the application is described, including the use of CI/CD tools to automate these processes, which contributes to increasing the efficiency of development and the quality of the final product. The article provides valuable information for developers who seek to create effective and secure web applications for medical clinics using modern technologies. The conclusions and recommendations presented in the study will help ensure high quality and compliance of the developed solutions with modern industry standards and requirements, which will contribute to increasing the efficiency of the work of medical institutions and the quality of medical services provided to patients

Impedance mismatch of data flow is the major problem in the relational database when one is using the web based application development on the computer system. It effects the development of scalable and reusable web application. Due to this, the research cost of development and maintenance increases. Therefore the present work is an attempt towards an object-oriented database system by using Db4o to overcome the impedance mismatch problem. In the current work, the development of web application for Indian Postal Services by using Db4o is demonstrated on dot NET platform. Before developing the application, the authors used a Unified Modeling Language (UML) model in the form of UML class, sequence and use-case diagrams. The Db4o is used to store the object-oriented database and the performance of Db4o is observed through several object-oriented queries and corresponding results are demonstrated.

In present era of information technology web applications have become an indispensable and most pivotal source to disseminate information across geographically distant nodes. Most of the organisation public or private have switched their existence from traditional software based systems to web based software systems. Many characteristic differences between traditional software and web based software application made web based existence more popular with wide range adoption. The sudden surge in web application usability across different organisation have posed a grave challenge for web development companies to deliver their products onetime and within budget with much expected accurately, efficiency and reliability. Effort estimation is main domain that decides the budgetary constraints associated with web application development. Accurate estimates are very essential for both developer and client. Accurate estimates make web development companies to maintain their reputation, competitive edge and client base. Inaccuracy in effort estimates results to lose revenue, client base and competitive strength. Effort estimation is very import for every development organisation to estimate the development work in early stages of development to prove efficient, accurate and much reliable budget estimates. This paper is an effort to explore various effort estimation techniques for web development, their challenges and measures to predict accurate efforts.

Web applications are evolving towards strong content-centred information systems accessible through the web. The development processes and implementation of these applications are unlike the development and implementation of traditional information systems. In this paper, we propose a Web Engineering Method (WEM): a method for developing Content Management System (CMS)-based web applications. Critical to a successful development of CMS-based web applications is adaptation to the dynamic business. We first define CMS-based web applications and identify their specific characteristics. Combining these characteristics with situational factors in projects, we show that by taking parts of proven methods, such as UML-based Web Engineering (UWE) and the Unified Process (UP), a unique method can be assembled for situational development of CMS-based web applications. We successfully validated the method at GX, a web-technology company specialised in developing and implementing CMS-based web applications.

In the rapid world of technology, web development faces a complex but significant challenge, particularly in the development of quality web applications. In many cases, end users often assess the quality of web applications based on their error-free performance and user-friendliness as well as enable users to perform tasks quickly anywhere and anytime on any computer devices. Thus, each and every quality issue in the phases of web development process plays a crucial role in the success of a web application and determining the right quality attributes or dimensions can be a challenge. The web development process, carried out in stages based on priorities, presents multiple challenges in communication, management, and teamwork within web development team environments which may adversely impact the overall quality of web applications. This research focuses on the influence of the web development process emphasising quality at each stage of creating high-quality web applications. This will then bring into case studies and quantitative metrics to produce a framework for the web development team to comprehend and adhere to the key quality principles of web application development.

Problem. Under ever-increasing competition in the field of project services, each project organization looks for the ways for improving production efficiency and quality of the products, as well as reducing project time. The solution of these problems is closely connected with the application and development of information technologies used in the project organization. Today, the complexity of the programs has increased so much that it makes no sense to write code for everything from scratch. PHP-frameworks accelerate the development process; help to write structured, reusable code; make it easy to scale projects. A choice of an effective PHP-framework is an important task. Goal. The goal is to increase the efficiency and reliability of project organization management by developing a project organization information system using an effective PHP-framework. Methodology . The methods and principles of fuzzy mathematics are used. Decision-making methods in the conditions of fuzzy input data were used to develop a model for choosing a PHP-framework for informatization of the project organization. Results. The paper analyzes the problem of choosing PHP-frameworks for web application development. For the first time, a model for choosing PHP-frameworks has been developed, which, unlike existing ones, allows taking into account fuzzy information and making the choice more objective. An example of the choice of PHP frameworks is given, which proved the efficiency and feasibility of using the developed model. Further research will be focused on the practical implementation of the model in the form of a program-methodological complex. Originality . The developed model allows choosing a PHP-framework in the conditions of fuzzy information about the preferences of the web application developer. Practical value. The use of the proposed model for choosing a PHP-framework in order to develop a web application for informatization of a project organization will increase its reliability and reduce the time of a web application development.

Studies indicate that information systems and computer science programs should place more emphasis on software design topics.Because little significant software in a commercial environment is developed using only programming skills,students without exposure to design patterns and frameworks will be ill-prepared for the workforce. This paper investigates whether PHP-based web development courses should use PHP frameworks to guide program development and how to select an appropriate framework. The paper begins with a literature review of the concept of design patterns, particularly the Model-View-Controller(MVC) pattern. We review studies that argue that design patterns and frameworks are essential pedagogical tools. Finally, we report on our work to select an appropriate framework for incorporation into web development courses as well as the process by which some of the major PHP MVC frameworks were assessed to determine which is best-suited for use in an academic environment.

Web application development from simple web pages to complex interactive platforms (including social networks, e-commerce systems, corporate portals) requires new approaches, tools and technologies. JavaScript libraries and frameworks play a special role in developing web applications, simplifying the creation of effective, scalable, and convenient interfaces. The purpose of the article is to research the problems and prospects of using React in combination with Redux when creating web applications with a complex structure, to assess the advantages of their joint use in comparison with similar tools and to develop the web application “FarmerProducts”. The research methodology consists of the main methodological approaches and technological tools for developing web applications. Such methods, in particular, are: system and comparative analysis – to identify the features of creating web applications; method of expert assessments, which involves the study of literary sources and information resources, conducting interviews and surveys of experts, as well as the processes of developing and testing scalable and high-performance web applications based on the use of React and Redux. The scientific novelty of the research is the analysis of modern tools (React, Angular, Vue. js) for developing web applications, identifying problems and prospects for their use, creating an author’s web application (using React and Redux), which includes an intuitive interface, a flexible database, simplifying the process of working with the application by using a stack of modern technologies. Conclusions. The paper analyses the problems and prospects of using modern web application development tools; focuses on React, which is suitable for different projects; conducts a comparative analysis of React with Angular, Vue. js and Svelte, identifies their main characteristics, advantages, disadvantages; demonstrates the dependence of the choice of tools on the project context (React in combination with Redux can provide an optimal balance between performance, flexibility and scalability); describes the author’s web application – the FarmerProducts online store; identifies further ways to improve this web application.
