Integrative urban fundamental information platform based on spatial information services

Recently, market of mobile spatial information service is increasing along with enlargement of geo-spatial information utilization area and spread of smartphone. In particular, smartphone users look forward to utilizing spatial information service more easily and conveniently. Korea has the potential for spatial information technology development, but does not have enough governmental support to develop various spatial information service in mobile network environment. Hence, it is need to make governmental support plans for utilizing mobile services and promoting the related industry base on mobile spatial information. In this paper, we propose governmental action plans for utilizing mobile services and promoting the related industry by surveying mobile application/web services and analyzing demands of mobile spatial information experts.

최근 들어 일반인의 공간정보 활용에 대한 수요가 증대되고 있는 가운데, 토지피복지도를 비롯한 국가공간정보의 구축이 증대되고 있다. 그러나 일반인을 대상으로 한 공간정보서비스가 미비하여 일반인의 공간정보 활용 증대를 기대하기 어려운 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 교육용 지리부도를 통해 우리에게 익숙한 아틀라스의 개념을 적용하여 일반인의 토지피복지도 활용을 증진할 수 있는 공간정보서비스 방안을 제안하였다. 이를 위해서 국내 토지피복지도의 활용 현황 및 해외사례를 검토하여 콘텐츠, 사용자, 활용 시스템의 측면에서 토지피복지도를 활용한 공간정보서비스의 개선 방향을 설정하고, 이를 보완할 수 있도록 아틀라스 개념을 기반으로 하는 아틀라스정보시스템의 특성과 기능을 정의하였으며, 환경공간정보서비스 제공 방안을 제시하였다. 이는 토지피복지도 뿐만 아니라 다양한 국가공간정보에 적용 가능하므로 일반인의 국가공간정보 활용 증진에 기여할 수 있다. Recently, tthe general users' demand on utilizing spatial information and the establishment of national spatial data such as land cover map are increasingly growing. But the lack of spatial information service for the general public is making it difficult for them to use spatial information and services. In this study, spatial information service strategies based on the concept of atlas, which is familiar to us through the student atlas, were proposed to promote the public users' utilization of land cover map. For this purpose, I reviewed current domestic status and overseas cases of land cover map service and proposed the future direction of spatial information service for land cover map in terms of contents, users, and system. Finally, I defined the basic concept, characteristics and functions of the Atlas Information System and recommended strategies for environmental spatial information service. The results of this study can be applied to various national spatial information as well as land cover map and contribute to the increase of general public users' utilization of national spatial data.

With the spatial information’s continuous expansion and increased popularity, the amount of the spatial information grow explosively, and the current services have not meet the needs of accessing to and processing spatial information. This thesis starts with the grid technology, doing researches to services oriented spatial information grid technology, focusing on the basic model and security of grid, and researching on the spatial information grid which has the capacity of on-demand services, as well as can integrated organize and coordination process massive of distributed spatial information resources. At last, this thesis proposes a spatial information service architecture design model based on the environment of grid, and has carried on the preliminary discussion to the grid spatial information service, as well as has implemented a simple grid services model.

Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) is a major problem confronting manufacturing organizations that have deployed large-scale enterprise information systems and aim to coordinate inter- and intraorganizational product development, supply-chain, and customer management activities. Successful EAI is a key enabling step toward implementation of viable Product Life-cycle Management (PLM) strategies. Extant EAI technologies, such as distributed object and messaging technologies for communication and ontology-based database schema integration, are tedious to develop and maintain in an organization. Though workflow management systems have enabled process coordination of both manual and system-oriented tasks in organizations, coping with the lack of adaptability and inter-operability in workflow systems is a manual and resource intensive effort. Recent advances in (i) standardized, modular, and distributed software delivery frameworks, such as web services; (ii) standard semantic markup languages for developing domain ontologies; and (iii) intelligent process coordination frameworks promise the development of flexible, responsive, integrated, and organic process management architectures. In this paper, we present an intelligent mediator-based architecture for enabling EAI. Intraorganizational information sources and services are made available via a web-services framework. An Integrated Service Planning and Execution (ISP&E) framework interleaves service composition and execution at the mediator to fulfill service requests. Processes that interleave information gathering and transactional tasks are generated using domain-independent Hierarchical Task Network (HTN) AI planning and a domain-specific ontology and then executed in a scalable and reliable manner. Benefits and limitations of mediator-based frameworks for EAI and topics for further research are discussed based on a prototype development experience.

New, often free, spatial information applications such as mapping tools, topological imaging, and geographic information systems are becoming increasingly available to the average computer user. These systems, which were once available only to government, scholastic, and corporate institutions with highly skilled operators, are driving a need for new and innovative ways for the average user to navigate and control spatial information intuitively, accurately, and efficiently. Gestures provide a method of control that is well suited to navigating the large datasets often associated with spatial information applications. Several different types of gestures and different applications that navigate spatial data are examined. This leads to the introduction of a system that uses a visual head tracking scheme for controlling of the most common navigation action in the most common type of spatial information application, panning a 2-D map. The proposed head tracking scheme uses head pointing to control the direction of panning. The head tracking control is evaluated against the traditional control methods of the mouse and touchpad, showing a significant performance increase over the touchpad and comparable performance to the mouse, despite limited practice with head tracking.

China is the largest coal producing country in the world, but its development pattern of coal industry is still at a relatively low level, there are still many problems to be solved in china. Geographical information technology has not fully been utilized in coal disaster prevention and control. It is rare to watch an integrated application of digital mine, and coal warning system based on spatial information is not really set up. This paper explored coal mine safety monitoring based on spatial information service, and discuss present status and existing problems. Automatic coal disaster monitoring based spatial information service is presented. We also go into detail this system and its key issues in this paper.

Section 1 Issues and methods in the application of spatial information: the patterns and characteristics of global land cover land surface characterization using lider remote sensing spatial analysis - methods and problems in land use management uncertainty and interpretation of spatial information - the case of precision agriculture integrating simulation models and spatial information for environmental problem solving. Section 2 Applications for spatial information in agriculture and resource management: commercializing remote sensing for crop monitoring multi-spectral remote sensing over semi-arid landscapes for resource management applications for spatial data in grassland monitoring and management an intelligent system for monitoring forests. Section 3 Analysis and management of land use: mapping biodiversity for conservation and land use decisions contribution of spatial information and models to management of rare and declining species predicting land use change in and around a rural community modelling land use change with linked cellular automata and socio-economic models - a tool for exploiting the impact of climate change on the Island of St Lucia. Conclusion: A framework for use of spatial information in analysis and modelling for land use management and planning.

The logistics industry in China has developed into a unique pattern. Logistics informatization is one of the important parts of modern logistics, which distinguishes with the traditional logistics. More and more urgent demands for logistics information generates with the development of social logistics. The key problem that needs to be solved in modern logistics is how to analyze and extract the useful information from a great deal of information. This paper mainly analyzes the potential users of logistics information platform, and proposes a novel design pattern and operation procedure for modern logistics information platform, which promotes the development of modern logistics to some extent.

Traditional EA concepts in the Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) domain focus on ex-post integration of application interfaces by pipelining different middleware technologies like message queuing or remote method invocations [1, 2]. Web Service enabled Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs) used in the EAI context were a step towards providing an abstraction layer for the involved interfaces by using the Web Service Description Language (WSDL). The idea of SOA enlarges by applying Semantic Web Services (SWS) technology to it. OWL-S and WSMO are two examples for concrete implementation approaches in this area [3, 4], and we will demonstrate semantic WSMO framework, and how it can solve the problems of traditional SOA.

With the rapid development of mobile computing and Web services, a huge amount of data with spatial and temporal information have been collected everyday by smart mobile terminals, in which an object is described by its spatial information and temporal information. Motivated by the significance of spatio-temporal range search and the lack of efficient search algorithm, in this paper, we study the problem of spatio-temporal range search (STRS), a novel index structure is proposed, called HOC-Tree, which is based on Hilbert curve and OC-Tree, and takes both spatial and temporal information into consideration. Based on HOC-Tree, we develop an efficient algorithm to solve the problem of spatio-temporal range search. Comprehensive experiments on real and synthetic data demonstrate that our method is more efficient than the state-of-the-art technique.

Web services are changing the way in which the World Wide Web is currently being used. The Web was created originally to support human-to-computer interactions with textual and graphical data. Today, people use the Web to read the latest news, buy consumer goods, search for information, and obtain stock quotes. However, the Web does not yet support effective computer-to-computer interactions between software applications of different enterprises. Web services can enable Internet-based software applications of different enterprises to interact with each other directly by providing application programs with the ability to invoke operations that otherwise would be invoked manually by a human through a browser. Web services can run not only on mainframe computers and server computers, but also on desktop computers and client handsets. Web services allow individuals and organizations to publish links to their software applications, just as they publish links to their Web pages. Web services solve the enterprise application integration (EAI) problem by enabling interaction among different applications within the same organization. They can also enable computer-to-computer applications of different organizations to interact without human intervention. For example, Web services can be used for reservation systems, order-tracking systems, and business supply chains. In the example shown in Figure 1, Company A (a customer) orders goods from Company B (a distributor). Company B checks the availability of the goods from Company C (a supplier), and then arranges for payment and shipping of the goods to Company A without human intervention. Performance, security, and reliability are factors that will limit the use of Web services unless those issues can be properly addressed. Nonetheless, the potential widespread use and benefits of Web services are very compelling. Web services allow disparate computing systems and applications to be coupled together, and they enable enterprises to streamline and automate their business processes.

The development of Information Technology (IT) demands the integration of systems (legacy or new), so that they can operate in a distributed way and promoting the reuse of design, code and information in a high granularity level. Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) plays a fundamental role in this scenario. It can be conducted by different means, for example, by sharing the access to databases or using Web Services (WS). Both solutions are being adopted by organizations, although they present advantages and disadvantages that should be analysed. Several restrictions can be present in the particular integration scenario, causing problems to be solved before deciding if the integration should be done by data access or WS. So, this work has the objective of documenting these problems and solutions in the pattern format, in order to make available to other developers the knowledge acquired when doing EAI. These solutions can be used to improve reuse in certain integration contexts, depending on the organization business rules.

Most urban planning monitoring activities were designed to monitor implementation of aggregated sectors from different initiatives into practical and measurable indicators. Today, cities utilize spatial information in monitoring and evaluating urban planning implementation for not only national or local goals but also for the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Modern cities adopt Participatory Geographic Information System (PGIS) initiative for their urban planning monitoring. Cities provide spatial information and online tools for citizens to participate. However, the selection of spatial information services for participants is made from producers’ perception and often disregards requirements from the regulation, functionalities, and broader user’s perception. By providing appropriate spatial information, the quality of participatory urban monitoring can be improved. This study presents a method for selecting appropriate spatial information for urban planning monitoring. It considers regulation, urban planning, and spatial science theories, as well as citizens’ requirements, to support participatory urban planning monitoring as a way to ensure the success of providing near real-time urban information to planners and decision-makers.

Objectives: This paper reviews the online platform for idea commercialization in Korea, and analyzes the user satisfaction of the platform so as to find out its functions for idea invention. Methods/Statistical Analysis: User satisfaction survey was conducted on the users of the Creative Economy Town (CET). This paper reviews the result of the survey according to the functions of the platform, which was characterized in the stages of idea generation, proposal, incubation, and commercialization support. Findings: While idea commercialization of the public for economic growth is the nationwide concern, there has been little research on information service platform for idea commercialization. These paper overviews the Korean practice of the government-initiated idea commercialization platform. This paper finds out that the CET as in information platform has provided adequate service meeting users' satisfaction by the stage of idea generation, proposal, incubation, and commercialization support. Improvements/Applications: Through this study, effective online information service can be provided for idea commercialization. This study also provides a stepping stone for planning and developing the information service platform.

At present, most enterprises have a heterogeneous environment of legacy application, which lead to many “information isolated islands”. Enterprises become more and more eager to share data in business processes over different systems. Traditional Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) methods usually integrate applications from peer to peer which has many defects. In This paper, a kind of EAI framework based on Web Services (WSEAI) has been put forward, which has nothing with any platform and programming language, so it can make the enterprise applications integrated together without gap.
