PREFACEIt is our great pleasure to welcome you to 2017 7th International Conference on Applied Physics and Mathematics (ICAPM 2017) which will be held in Tokyo, Japan during Jan. 20-22, 2017. ICAPM2017 is dedicated to issues related to Applied Physics and Mathematics.The major goal and feature of the conference is to bring academic scientists, engineers, industry researchers together to exchange and share their experiences and research results, and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. Professors from Japan and Taiwan are invited to deliver keynote speeches regarding latest information in their respective expertise areas. The Mechanical Engineering Cooperation Agency (BKS-TM Indonesia) has established the International Symposium on Advances and Innovation in Mechanical Engineering (ISAIME) as an annual scientific forum for academics, researchers, and practitioners in mechanical engineering. The 6 th ISAIME was convened on 9 October 2025, organized by the Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Department, Universitas Andalas, Padang, Indonesia, with the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability in Mechanical Engineering: Smart Solution for a Greener Future.” This symposium served as a platform to present and discuss recent advances, research findings, and innovations across a wide range of topics, including mechanical application design, energy conversion, manufacturing processes, materials engineering, and mechanical engineering education. Distinguished experts delivered a total of two keynote lectures from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the Université Laval, Canada, while 112 papers were presented and grouped into four thematic areas: mechanical application design, energy conversion, manufacturing processes, and materials engineering. These contributions reflect the growing role of mechanical engineering in advancing technological innovation, environmental sustainability, and human resource development within Industry 4.0. The Organizing Committee gratefully acknowledges the sponsorship and support of various companies and partner institutions, as well as the commitment of all speakers, authors, and participants who contributed to the success of this event. The knowledge and insights shared during the 6 th ISAIME are expected to foster academic collaboration, strengthen networks between academia and industry, and advance science and technology in mechanical engineering.

The article analyzes the main trends in the global market of mechanical engineering, in particular, in the branches of agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering for light industry, construction and road engineering, and energy engineering. It also addresses the structure and development trends of the mechanical engineering market by regions, changes in the business environment of the mechanical engineering industry, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the state and development of the global mechanical engineering market, new rules and requirements for manufacturers of mechanical engineering products, and technological innovations and trends. Mechanical engineering companies today are at the epicenter of technological transformation. The mechanical engineering industry creates individual digital capabilities and intelligently combined products. Innovative processes such as related production, forecast service and innovative service models are increasingly used in mechanical engineering. The use of modern digital technologies in mechanical engineering is becoming a necessity that prevents the risks of losing relevance in the market of modern industry. Although the basic principles of mechanical engineering, such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and machine design, still remain in force, the latest technologies are contributing to the rapid development of composites, mechatronics and nanotechnology. These new subject areas, which are the result of modern achievements, have become a prerequisite for the development of new and promising industries, including artificial intelligence and biomechatronics. The growing demand for increased production efficiency while minimizing operating costs has led to demand for new and innovative technologies. Based on the study of the introduction of new technologies in mechanical engineering and global trends in the industry, the author substantiates the feasibility of accepting the need for globalization in mechanical engineering as a new norm, taking into account costs, tax consequences, quality and delivery in planning the existing geographical location, supply chains, strategic partnerships; reduction of the general supply cycle for better adaptation to the changing environment; optimization of existing production facilities, automation and attraction of advanced digital technologies for the establishment of work processes; implementation of advanced technologies in mechanical engineering, such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, nanoengineering, advanced data analytics, automation of robotic processes, blockchain, robotics, cloud computing augmented reality, 3D printing, drones, 5G, etc.; raising the qualification level of mechanical engineering workers.

A group of multidisciplinary Purdue students are working together to design, assemble, and install a Biowall in the Children’s section of the West Lafayette Public Library. A Biowall is a plant-based filter that improves Indoor Environmental Quality by cleaning indoor air and adding a natural aesthetic to the building space. Purdue has been developing Biowall technology since 2012, and this project involves redesigning it to fit into the available space at the library. The new Biowall design incorporates a watering mechanism that allows for children to get actively involved in maintaining the Biowall and learning about sustainability. This project also allowed university students to participate in the design process, manufacturing, and commissioning of the Biowall. Future add-ons to the design include a display to show current Indoor Environmental Quality, buttons to light different sections of the Biowall for an immersed learning experience. The project involved the participation of two student organizations, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and Boiler Green Initiative (BGI). The students from these organizations were able to learn about the designing and assembly process, while also learning how a Biowall works. The team involved in the project includes Ph.D., Masters, and Undergraduate students. The students involved came from Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management Technology. The project involves working with a community partner, West Lafayette Public Library, and working with Purdue Facilities Service Building (PSFB) to assemble the equipment. An undergraduate class also benefitted from the Biowall by leaning the commissioning process by taking measurements of the different components in the Biowall. Once assembled and tested at the Environmental Chamber in the Applied Energy Lab located at the Knoy Building, the Biowall will be moved and installed in the West Lafayette Public Library. The location allows for the public to learn about the research done by Purdue, the Biowall will be a tool for everyone to learn about the importance of Indoor Environmental Quality, contaminants in the indoor air, and plants that improve Indoor Air Quality. A website which includes more information about the Biowall will also be active with the installation of the Biowall, the website provides for more outreach opportunities. Detailed documentation will be provided to the Library with Standard Operating Procedures.

The Committee of the 2025 3rd International Symposium on Mechanical Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Intelligent Technology (MEAMIT2025) is delighted to present the MEAMIT2025 proceedings. MEAMIT2025 is organized by Harbin University of Science and Technology, China. Observing the rapid development of global engineering and physics applications and considering the trends of academic research development, the MEAMIT2025 Committee decided to develop the third event to an international symposium. The symposium was held successfully on January 10-12, 2025 in Harbin, China. This event conducted a series of in-depth discussions on various relevant topics of Mechanical Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Technology, such as Mechanical Manufacturing and its Automation, Mechatronics Engineering, Equipment and Control Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing and so on. It provided opportunity for the participants to understand the development and innovation to the fields and promote academic exchanges and cooperation. The proceedings of MEAMIT2025 cover a wide range of topics. Each paper has undergone a double-blinded peer-review process to ensure its academic standards. Preface to the 1st ICI&ME 2018The ICI&ME is the first International Conference on Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering by the Master and Doctoral Program of Industrial Engineering, University of Sumatera Utara (USU), held from 16-17th October 2018 in Medan, Indonesia, with the theme “Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Practice for Local Industries”. This conference is an extended collaboration between University of Sumatera Utara (USU), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and Prince of Songkla University (PSU) to intensify knowledge sharing and experiences between higher learning institutions.This ICI&ME Conference is a platform for knowledge exchange and the growth of ideas, particularly in manufacturing engineering. The conference aims to bring researchers, academics, scientists, students, engineers and practitioners from around the world together to present their latest findings, ideas, developments and applications related to manufacturing engineering and other related research areas. With rapid advancements in manufacturing engineering, ICI&ME is an appropriate medium for the associated community to keep pace with the changes. This year, 2018, the conference theme is “Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Practice for Local Industries” which reflects the role of industrial and manufacturing engineering to be developed for industries.The papers in these proceedings are examples of the work presented at the conference. They represent the tip of the iceberg, as the conference attracted over 167 full papers were accepted in these proceedings. The conference was run in four parallel sessions with 167 presenters sharing their latest finding in the areas of manufacturing process, systems, advanced materials and automation. Engineering is a specially designed course that includes the application of knowledge explicitly in the field of science and natural phenomena. The fields of engineering, technology, and physical sciences have been growing towards a new era of development and innovation across the globe. They include many fields, and one such significant area is mechanical engineering, which deals with the construction, working principles, and applications of various types of machines. Technical data of the products based on their scientific principles, along with parameters, are involved in the development of mechanical engineering. With this background, this study is designed to look forward to the future directions and emerging technologies in mechanical engineering. This review study investigated the future direction and emerging technology in mechanical engineering. It also highlighted the purpose and significance of mechanical engineering and discussed some of the research questions in mechanical engineering. Future directions of learning and technology, mechanical invention and development, the transportation industry, electric vehicles, and the artificial intelligence industrial revolution are also mentioned in this study. Mechanical engineering is a growing field of technology across the world. This review study indicated that it is essential to have upgraded knowledge and skills in the field of engineering and technology in this modern era. Many theories can be applied in the mechanical field with the support of upgrades in technology. The direction of mechanical engineering study is to learn the mechanical aspects of different technologies and the knowledge about that technology to optimize its use.

The 2nd International Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Applied Sciences, 2022 (ICMEAS – 2022) was a continuation of the previous endeavor dedicated to gather a significant number of diverse leading scholar, scientist, academician, researchers, industrial experts etc., together from different parts of the globe and exchange their experiences and researches. That conference offered a platform to junior researchers and scientist to have an exposure to a wider but uniquely intellectual community and have interaction with them. It gave an exceptional value for students, academics and industry researchers. The ICMEAS – 2022 also provided a premier interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aeronautical, Naval, and Energy Engineering and other related fields. This conference was run both online and physical modes over a period of three days of time.The ICMEAS – 2022 conference was a great success with the relentless effort of each member of the organizing committee and active participation of the organizing partners, and spontaneous response of the scholars, researchers and scientist from around the world. Assalamualaikumwarahmatullahiwabarakatuh and Salam i MalaysiaFirst and foremost, I want to thank the International Conference Mechanical Engineering Research (ICMER) organisers for inviting me to address and officiate at this conference. It is a privilege and an honour for me on this momentous occasion to grace the ceremony. The ICMER provides a platform to bring together not only researchers but also postgraduate students in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Biomechanical Engineering, Material Engineering and Industrial Engineering. With this platform, ICMER will embark on a whole process of making new discoveries and then translating them into products and services for the marketplace; this is only made possible by people like all of you. It might be only a starting point but with hard work and perseverance I am sure you will succeed with flying colours. As one of Malaysia's Public Universities, UMP's main challenge is to remain competitive and relevant by offering high quality technical academic programmes and research activities, focusing on its niche areas. New knowledge and findings cannot be generated without research and development (R&D); therefore, Malaysia has had substantial investment in research and development facilities. These efforts will undoubtedly generate lots of interesting results and new knowledge as either further investigation or commercial activities. Therefore, researchers like you must see this as the generator of new knowledge to extend your research outcomes from laboratory experiments to the marketplace and towards commercialisation. Naybe this doesn't appear significant in the short term but it may make a tremendous impact in the future. The Malaysian government has invested a huge sum of Ringgits in R&D over the years. Therefore, public universities such as UMP must produce more quality researchers and graduates to ensure Malaysia reaps the returns from these investments and consequently progressive economic growth for the country. Commensurate with these efforts, the results of research must be commercialised effectively. That is why our 2nd KRA UMP's 2011–2015 Strategic Plan determines that we strengthen and sustain its financial support by allocating research grants and industry collaboration and consultations through its business and commercialisation unit. Commercialisation of research outcomes doesn't happen naturally. It may need many man-hours and effort to be invested rather than just purchasing new tools and equipment for laboratories. Moreover, it would be unfortunate if many research results remain in the form of technical publications and scientific journals rather than actual products. These may of course be valuable in their own right but the impact on society and economies must be the main agenda and one of the objectives of the research. The process of taking technology from laboratories to the marketplace will face challenges and pitfalls. In that case we as researchers must be responsible and willing to create a supportive environment for those who undertake this risky business of commercialising R&D especially for innovative entrepreneurship that carries out a new technological approach out from the laboratories to high-tech ventures.We have achieved many accolades from numerous competitors since we first embarked on our journey to make R&D activities play a more significant role in the economy in Malaysia. Therefore, we must keep up the pace of this journey and maintain our investment in R&D despite facing the unfavourable global financial situation because ultimately we must to remain a top and competitive player in the global economy. This can be done by continuing to produce high quality research and technology which will set a milestone in transforming our economy. The issues of additive technology in relation to combined methods of tool manufacturing using electromagnetic and other types of fields as an influence on the process are considered. It is shown that the use of additive technologies in mechanical engineering is most promising for flexible-structured industries, where the products are in a state of constant improvement and updating, and are produced in a limited series. In this case, it is required systematic replacement of the tool, which ensures the receipt of parts with the required configuration and quality level. 1. The paper proposes a new approach to the use of additive technologies in combined processing methods, where the concept of a traditional tool in the form of a solid body having a mirror image of the working part relative to the treated surface is expanded to non-contact and non-force contact effects, in which the removal of the allowance and the change in operational characteristics occurs due to thermal, chemical, magnetic influences or their combinations with mechanical factors. 2. The ways of solving the problem of managing operational characteristics by creating parts from conjugate layers, the properties of which are formed by optimizing technological modes, are proposed. 3. The field of effective use of the technology of sequential layer-by-layer build-up or changing the properties of layers during contact and contactless processing on serial equipment without time-consuming readjustment or modernization of technological equipment by designing a software product for modern computing equipment is disclosed. 4.
