Component- vs. application-level MVC architecture

Ethics in digital resource processing and access are strongly coupled with human computer interaction because they produce trust between user and system. Over the past decades, we have seen a rapid increase of digital born resources in business applications where i.e. different stakeholders, ranging from patients, doctors to Data Scientists must cope with ethical aspects and regulations. Amongst others, innovative Model View Controller (MVC) based data management systems in the healthcare sector are analysing and managing an ever-growing, vast amount of sensitive data, enabling its efficient and comprehensive use in decision-making processes. E.g. in data-driven collaboration processes like drug development, caregiving or clinical patient monitoring. MVC is one of the most popular architectural patterns (Holzinger et.al 2010), which is the reason to investigate this design pattern further in terms of ethical aspects within human computer intractable systems. However, new regulations, like the GDPR have a huge impact on sensitive data management. However, ethical regulations could not first be considered by those who make use of information system functionalities, but must be an inherent part of considerations during software development process. This short paper will bring up and discuss ethical issues in decision making systems system software development, along with an existing ethic by design framework in the scope of health-related research projects.

In the current teaching of politics, teachers still focus on the cultivation of the basic intelligence of students’ language intelligence, and it is easy to ignore the cultivation of other intelligences that affect the overall development of students. This research mainly discusses the design of curriculum ideological and political teaching platform based on the fusion of multiple data and information in an intelligent environment. This research adopts the MVC architecture, and the web application developed based on the MVC (Model View Controller) architecture pattern is easier to complete the realization of multiple controllers. The front desk ideological and political teaching teacher module includes the login system. In addition, the teacher can view the test status of a specific student and can also pay attention to the total intelligence of all students who have been tested. The process of the student test is to enter the correct account and password to log in to the system and then perform the test. After the test, the test result can be viewed, and the personal information can be maintained at the same time. In addition, the personal login password can be modified. The existence of the database is to ensure that the data is correct and effective. This system uses MySql to design the database, and the name of the database is braintest_db. The data table in relational database is the main object of storing and managing data, and it is also an important task of database design. This system has designed three kinds of user logins, namely, administrator, student, and teacher, and login can be realized according to the account number and password. Among them, teacher’s participation is by inquiring about students’ test situation, paying attention to students’ multiple intelligences, and teaching students in accordance with their aptitude. In addition, the main object of this test is students, and the analysis of multiple intelligences is realized through student tests. Students are vitally physical objects that can be tested and searched for results. In the study, 20% of the students both learn the basic content of the platform and use the forum. This research will help improve students’ literacy in an all‐round way.

Object-oriented architectures for Graphical User Interfaces (GUI’s) model the interface as a composition of interacting Objects which each present an internal state to the user and provide operations on that state. Two such architectures are Model-View-Controller (MVC) and Presentation-Abstraction-Control (PAC).We use Object-Z to describe examples of the MVC and PAC architectures. We compare the characteristics of the architectures and consider the efficacy of Object-Z as a tool for modelling user-interface architectures.

There is a lot of routine work in any organization, including in recruitment agencies. Effective management organization and automation of activities of employees of recruiting agencies is not an easy task. The system should automate the routine actions of workers of recruiting agencies and be convenient for their clients. This paper proposes an approach to automating the selection of necessary medical staff. Not all information systems used by recruiting agencies can compare candidates and generate results that include several of the best candidates. Based on the analysis of the subject area, groups of parameters that significantly affect the choice of medical personnel were determined. The proposed approach is to analyze the request from the client, and then in the system find requests of other clients similar to it in terms of parameters, for which a candidate has already been found. The next step is to take the profiles of healthcare professionals that have been suggested for these requests (they act as benchmarks) to further compare them with existing candidates. Each employee profile parameter has its own similarity function. Available candidates will receive scores and will be ranked. We also additionally adjust the assessment by comparing candidates with the current request. Software was developed to automate the selection of medical personnel. For its implementation, a three-level client-server architecture is proposed. MVC (Model View Controller) architecture was chosen for the server part. The Single Page Application architectural template is used for the client part. The server part is divided into three layers, which further demarcate and structure the responsibilities of the system components. .NET technologies are used to implement business logic. SQL Server is used for the server and database provider. The use of the software implementation of the developed system demonstrated quite good results. The average time for selecting the 10 best candidates out of 500 is 0.4 seconds, and the processing of only 1 resume by a person takes several minutes.

En este trabajo se analizan los framework PHP de código abierto basados en el patrón de diseño Modelo-Vista-Controlador (MVC) a través de cuadros comparativos, que permiten a los desarrolladores crear sus aplicaciones web sin necesidad de codificar desde cero, ya que cuentan con herramientas integradas y bibliotecas que facilitan las operaciones CRUD (creación, lectura, actualización y eliminación), organización del código, facilidad de mantenimiento, seguridad ante ataques de inyección SQL y otras amenazas. Se describen las características, especificaciones técnicas, componentes de los frameworks considerados los más comunes como son: Laravel, Symfony, CodeIgniter, Zend, CakePHP, Yii, que ayudan a reducir el tiempo en el proceso de desarrollo empleando buenas prácticas de programación. Para el estudio se aplicó el método analítico-sintético para identificar los frameworks que permitan diseñar e implementar web dinámicas, robustas y seguras facilitando la corrección de errores. Los resultados brindan un insumo a los programadores e ingenieros de software que están incursionando en los frameworks PHP donde puedan analizar las bondades que tiene cada uno, elegir el más completo según su funcionalidad, ventajas y desventajas al momento de desarrollar sus proyectos web.

The Tuition Payment Information System was designed because at this time the payment of tuition at SMP Islam Cilacap still uses the general ledger, causing inaccuracies in payment data by employees (administrative). The purpose of this research is to help solve problems in the processing of tuition payment data, making payment data reports, searching payment data, knowing payment data information, and knowing the school money payment report. The system is designed using MVC (Model-View-Controller) architecture and SMS Gateway notifications as well as system development methods using System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with Waterfall model. In addition, the system design uses PHP and HTML programming languages, database management is MySQL and uses the Laravel framework. Based on the results of the system test and the results of the questionnaire by 10 respondents that 14% stated enough, 44% stated well and 42% stated very well calculated by the calculation of the Likert scale of 86% entered the excellent qualification which means successful. So it can be concluded that this system can solve existing problems by facilitating the processing of payment data, assisting in the creation of school money payment reports, helping in speeding up the search for payment data, knowing the payment information of tuition without having to come to school, and knowing the payment data report quickly without having to go through a long recap process.

Interactive Systems and the Model–View–Controller Architecture

The first four chapters of this book introduced React, which is the JavaScript framework for creating user interfaces, a product of Facebook’s engineering team. What you have seen up to this point is sufficient to create robust user interfaces using React and to implement React into your new or existing application frameworks. However, there is more than just React to the React ecosystem. One of these items is Flux, an application framework created by Facebook to complement React in a way that displaces the standard Model-View-Controller (MVC) framework. This is not because there is necessarily anything wrong with MVC as it stands, but more because when you start building an application with React and dissecting your application logic into components, you will find that a framework, similar to the typical MVC, will not be as efficient or maintainable as something like Flux, which has been designed with React in mind and also has the ability to scale your application without an increasing maintenance cost.

This research discusses the implementation of the Model View Controller (MVC) architecture and Zend Framework in developing the Category Online application at PT XYZ, a leading retail company in Indonesia. The IT team at PT XYZ faced challenges in developing applications using PHP Native, and the adoption of the Zend Framework improved development efficiency. The application handles manual changes in item status across numerous branches, which is inefficient. The study focuses on developing the Transformation Class Product (TCP) module. The research method involves five stages, from requirements analysis to implementation, using a prototype model approach. System testing, utilizing black box testing during the User Acceptance Test (UAT) phase, was successful, indicating the effectiveness of the application's core functionalities. Thus, the implementation of MVC and Zend Framework in the Category Online application at PT XYZ has proven effective in enhancing the company's operational efficiency.

Enabling business developers to create business applications greatly reduces development cost and increases business adaptiveness. However, lacking of an application framework that is amenable to business people makes it hard for business developers to create decent business applications. This paper presents such a business application framework that consists of application components primarily including business artifacts, forms and tasks that business developers can easily work with. The different types of components are automatically composed into a service based application with Model-View-Controller (MVC) paradigm. The advanced business developers are allowed to write scripts to manipulate the behavior of the components and mash-up with external services for better customization and integration. The design considerations for the supporting tools and run-time are also discussed in detail in the paper. At the end, the feedback we got and consolidated from practitioners is analyzed for identifying potential enhancement and major future work.

This paper presents a formal development approach for designing interactive applications using a correct-by-construction approach. In this work, we propose a refinement strategy using model-view-controller (MVC) to structure and design Event-B formal models of the interactive application. The proposed MVC-based refinement strategy facilitates the development of an abstract model and a series of refined models by introducing the possible modes, controller’s behaviour and visual components of the interactive application while preserving the required interaction-related safety properties. To demonstrate the effectiveness, scalability, reliability and feasibility of our approach, we use a small example (from automotive domain) and real-life industrial case studies (from aviation). The entire development is realized in Event-B and the associated Rodin tool is used to analyse and verify the correctness of the formalized model. Finally, the developed Event-B models are used to generate source code using EB2ALL tool for going from the specification to the implementation of the interactive application.

In this disruptive era, information systems are a basic need in every field that we do. Almost all jobs have an information system that is used to help complete the work so that it becomes more effective. Libraries process a lot of data that must be processed properly and quickly so that they can provide maximum service to customers. In addition to the information system built to manage all data, information system security must be a major concern so that data can be stored safely and avoid attacks or defacements from irresponsible people. One way to secure the information system that we create is to separate the model view and controller so that the system will be difficult to hack or disable. With the CodeIgniter Framework, it will be easier for us to create a secure website because CodeIgniter has a Model View Controller (MVC) concept.

An attempt has been made in the present study to develop a Geographic Information System (GIS) based user-friendly accident data management system for selected locations of Surat city, Gujarat, India. The accident data management system offers a platform to maintain and update accident database and use it for further analysis. In the present study, the GIS database has been developed with the help of MapInfo10.5, a geographic mapping and analysis tool to locate accident-prone areas quickly and accurately on a map. Accident data management system is purposely designed in a user friendly manner to suit people who are not familiar with computers and it follows Model-View-Controller (MVC) architectural pattern and is created using JSP - servlets. Major functionalities of the present system are accident data reporting as per Indian Roads Congress (IRC 53, 2012) guidelines and statistical analysis of accident data. The findings from the present study highlights the necessity of developing GIS data base and user-friendly accident data management system for effective planning, design, construction, analysis, operation, maintenance, and administration of transportation systems and facilities.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to propose the use of case studies in teaching an undergraduate course of Internet for Business in class, based on the revised Bloom’s taxonomy. The study provides the empirical evidence about the effect of case-based teaching method integrated the revised Bloom’s taxonomy on students’ incremental learning, measured by the four constructs: knowledge application, higher-order thinking, practice evaluation knowledge and knowledge improvement.Design/methodology/approachIn this study, learning activities associated with the revised taxonomy-based learning strategy were proposed to support the development of higher-level cognitive skills. Revised application scale, higher-order thinking scale, practice evaluation knowledge scale and knowledge improvement scale were used to measure students’ perception of skills corresponding to their level of application, analysis, evaluation and creation, respectively. After completing each task pertinent to case studies, students were encouraged to complete the survey questionnaire. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was employed to examine the relationships between constructs. Students participate in a course where case studies are employed as the main learning activities to promote higher-order thinking. Upon completing the course, they fill in a survey to evaluate the four constructs of incremental learning: level of knowledge application, higher-order thinking, practice evaluation knowledge and knowledge improvement. The relationships between the four constructs are then examined using SEM.FindingsAnalysis reveals that with the use of case-based learning activities, knowledge application creates a positive impact on higher-order thinking. Higher-order thinking has positive influence on practice evaluation knowledge. Eventually, practice evaluation knowledge produces a positive effect on knowledge improvement. The results show the desired effects of incremental learning.Research limitations/implicationsThe case studies designed for teaching the Internet for Business course might not be suitable in terms of content for other courses, which limit the implication of the findings.Practical implicationsThe key implication is that cognitive process is enhanced by using case studies where learning activities are designed, based on the revised Bloom’s taxonomy.Originality/valueThe paper offers a comprehensive perspective on incremental learning where students’ knowledge of Internet for Business moves developmentally towards the higher-order cognitive process dimension of the revised Bloom’s taxonomy.

True multi-user, multimodal interaction over a digital table lets co-located people simultaneously gesture and speak commands to control an application. We explore this design space through a case study, where we implemented an application that supports the KJ creativity method as used by industrial designers. Four key design issues emerged that have a significant impact on how people would use such a multi-user multimodal system. First, parallel work is affected by the design of multimodal commands. Second, individual mode switches can be confusing to collaborators, especially if speech commands are used. Third, establishing personal and group territories can hinder particular tasks that require artefact neutrality. Finally, timing needs to be considered when designing joint multimodal commands. We also describe our model view controller architecture for true multi-user multimodal interaction.
