UNNES Physics International Symposium 2018 (UPIS2018)

The 11th National Physics Seminar (SNF 2022) is an annual meeting hosted by the Physics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the SNF 2022 was conducted online (Virtual Conference) on June 25th, 2022, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The seminar’s scope includes but is not limited to material physics, instrumentation and computational physics, medical physics & biophysics, earth physics and space science, theory, nuclear and particle physics, energy and environmental physics, and physics education. The theme of this year’s seminar is “Innovations and Challenges in Physics for Stronger Recovery.”The seminar was divided into three sessions: the opening ceremony, the keynote speaker session, and the oral presentation. The first session, the Opening, started with the Report of the Chair, the Dean of FMIPA, the Chair of the Physical Society of Indonesia (PSI) Jakarta and Banten Chapter, and the Opening Speech from the Chancellor of Universitas Negeri Jakarta. In the second session, keynote speakers presented their phenomenal research, including discussion. The third is a parallel session with oral presentations from presenters, researchers, and lecturers for 15 minutes per presenter, including discussion. There are 12 virtual rooms designed for parallel sessions with an average occupancy of 14 presenters. A moderator and operator guide each parallel room. I want to thank the Physical Society of Indonesia (PSI) Jakarta and Banten Chapter for their support.As a scientific forum, 194 participants attended this seminar among students, lecturers, researchers, and practitioners who participated as both presenters and participants. We received 134 papers selected through the Morressier system and selected 92 papers to be published in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series with the scope of physics and related fields. Assessment by reviewers includes scope, novelty, originality, scientific impact, accuracy and correctness, and clarity of expression. The success of college students is traditionally predicted by a standard assessment of academic, cognitive ability. However, there is much evidence that their success is strongly influenced by non-cognitive academic ability, one of which is a grit trait level. This study aims to provide an overview of physics and mathematics student teacher candidates’ grit trait level at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) who are taking Introductory Physics courses. This research is descriptive research with survey and relational model approach. The samples that participated in this study were 91 students consisting of 49 undergraduate students on physics education program and 42 students from mathematics education program. The grit trait level consists of two dimensions: “consistency of interest” and “perseverance of effort.” Grit trait data was obtained using a Short Grit (S-Grit) scale instrument that has been translated into Indonesian and has been tested for its validity and internal consistency. The results showed that student teacher candidates’ grit trait was at a moderate level (3.28). In the dimension of consistency is at a moderate level (2.88), while the dimension of perseverance is at a high degree (3.68). Also, there was a significant difference in the students’ grit trait level by gender factors. Female students tend to have a higher grit trait level than male students. However, there is no significant difference in students’ grit trait level from Physics Education and Mathematics Education.

The 12th EIC, organized by the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia, took place successfully on September 20th, 2023. Themed “Innovation and Application of Green Technology for Post-Pandemic Recovery,” this year’s annual conference adopted a digital format through Zoom meetings and YouTube streaming, similar to the previous year, for enhanced accessibility and operational efficiency. The conference commenced with the launch by the Academic Vice Rector of Universitas Negeri Semarang, who provided a brief institutional overview. The subsequent plenary session featured four keynote speakers from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, each delivering a 45-minute speech followed by a 15-minute Q&A period. The entire session, conducted via Zoom, was expertly facilitated by moderators from the Faculty of Engineering at UNNES, attracting over 900 enthusiastic participants from the opening ceremony to the conclusion of the plenary session. Post-plenary, 88 presenters from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan were allocated to nine Zoom meeting rooms based on manuscript content for parallel session presentations. Each room had a moderator overseeing 10-minute presentations and 5-minute Q&A sessions, fostering excellent discussions and promoting idea sharing among presenters and participants. Deep gratitude was expressed to the committee, partners, keynote speakers, presenters, participants, and all contributors for the success of the virtual conference despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. Attendees actively engaged throughout the session without notable issues. The best presenter from each parallel room was acknowledged at the conclusion, recognizing their exceptional efforts. Certificates were distributed to all keynote speakers, presenters, and conference attendees, serving as recognition of their valuable contributions. This document compiles the accepted manuscripts of the 69 presenters, presenting research findings, concepts, data, and applications related to green technology theory, design, development, implementation, testing, and evaluation. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to extend our warmest regards to all participants of the 6th International Conference on Tropical and Coastal Region Eco-Development (ICTCRED) 2020. This annual conference was held on 27-28 October 2020, organized by the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Universitas Diponegoro, Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia.We brought an essential global topic the Sustainable Development in Coastal Area . The conference aims to provide a forum to exchange ideas and their current achievements for researchers, academicians, professionals, and industries to expose and exchange innovative ideas, methods, and experiences in the areas related to tropical life sciences and coastal development.We have accepted 107 abstracts for oral and poster presentations coming from different universities and research centers from Indonesia, Japan, USA, UK, Netherlands, South Korea, Belgium, and Malaysia, which were consisted of 15 big interests. Besides, we have cordially invited ten highly respected researchers as keynote speakers with different fields to share their knowledge and expertise. We are grateful for each one of them for setting aside their valuable time to participate in this conference.The 6th ICTCRED 2020 was firstly planned to be held offline in Semarang, Indonesia. However due to the pandemic COVID-19 situation, we had to adapt the new normal regulation which restrict the face to face meeting to avoid the massive virus transmission. Therefore, the 6th ICTCRED 2020 was held in virtual format using Zoom application. This event could not be postponed since it has become the annual event of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Universitas Diponegoro. Despite virtual event, we guarantee that the 6th ICTCRED 2020 was held professionally, following the rule of scientific conference. Starting with the plenary session with the presentation from the keynote speakers, the participants have their presentation in the panel sessions with 10 minute presentation and 10 minute discussion. The presentation of participant was in video recording format to avoid the technical problems during the presentation. However, the presence of participant was an obligation to answer the questions emerging during discussion session. ABSTRACTThe aims of the study are to determine the application of higher order thinking skills and student self-regulated learning in the General Biology Course, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Medan. This research was conducted in the departments of Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Science and Computer Science. Sampling was done by random sampling, by taking 6 classes from different majors. The type of this research is descriptive-quantitative research. The number of higher order thinking skills tests was 15 items and self-regulated learning tests were 40 items. The test is validated first before being used as a research instrument, followed by a validity test of the instrument, a reliability test, a test of the level of difficulty and distinguishing power. The results showed that the application of students' higher-order thinking skills in the General Biology course at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences was still in the low category. This can be seen from the results of the Mathematics Education class B, as much as 3% is in the perfect category, 28% is in the very good category, 7% is in the good category, and 60% is in the low category. In Physics Education class A, 38% are in the Perfect category, 38% are in the very good category, and 23% are in the low category. In the Biology A education class, 30% are in the perfect category, 5% are in the good category, and 65% are in the low category. In the Non-educational Chemistry class A, 28% were in the Perfect category, 17% were in the very good category, and 50% were in the low category. In IPA B class, 14% are in the perfect category, 28% are in the very good category, and 57% are in the low category. In computer science class C, 17% are in the perfect category, 33% are in the good category, and 50% are in the low category. Meanwhile, Self-Regulated Learning for Students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the General Biology course is included in good categories, this is because the application of the KKNI curriculum accustoms students to be able to study independently through the assignment of six compulsory assignments for students. The 10th International Seminar on New Paradigm and Innovation on Natural Science and Its Application (10th ISNPINSA)“Developing Innovations and Challenges in Science And Technology For Better Living”September 24-25, 2020The International Seminar on New Paradigm and Innovation of Natural Sciences and its Application (ISNPINSA) is an annual conference organized by the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics (FSM), Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. This seminar has been successfully conducted since 2011 and therefore becoming an annual event since then. This annual ISNPINSA has been intensively achieved high level improvement in strengthening the collaboration between scientists either from Indonesia or other countries, stimulating a new research partnership, and contributing to formulating policies to increase the important roles of science for the community.The 10th ISNPINSA was held on September 24-25, 2020 with the theme of “DEVELOPING INNOVATIONS AND CHALLENGES IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR BETTER LIVING”. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the conference process was carried out virtually using licensed Zoom media. The presentations were categorized into two terms, which were plenary presentation and parallel presentation. Keynote speakers were invited to deliver their expertise and research findings at the plenary presentation and each had given 1 hour of speech. While invited speakers together with all parallel presenters delivered their presentation in parallel session with time of speech including Q&A for each of 15 minutes.The number of participants of the seminar were 313 including 7 keynote speakers, 5 invited speakers, presenters and non-presenters coming from various institutions of various countries consist of researchers, lecturers, postgraduate and undergraduate students from various universities. Online learning has long been promoted by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMNS), State University of Medan (SUM). The online learning system (SIPDA) has been developed by Unimed as the backbone of online learning, but the number of lecturers using the system has not been as expected. The covid-19 has succeeded in forcing all lecturers to migrate from classroom face-to-face (offline) to online learning. This research was aimed to study the preferences of lecturers for available online learning media during the Covid-19 pandemic. The data were obtained using questionnaire that distributed online to all lecturers and students who were active in lectures for the even semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. The data shows that all lecturers have implemented online learning to serve all classes. The majority of lecturers serve their class by using more than one online media. The order of the three types of online media which became the main preference of lecturers experienced a shift during the 3 months of observation, namely from WhatsApp (WA) - Email - Google Classroom (GC) in the first, to WA - GC - SIPDA in the second, and to WA - SIPDA - GC in the third month. It can be concluded that, although initially the lecturers’ main preference in learning was social media (WA), they have tried hard to make SIPDA as the main choice among the available e-learning media.

Tlagayasa Village, located in Bobotsari Sub-district, Purbalingga Regency, Central Java, is situated about 30 km from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNSOED. Based on interviews with village officials, a water tourism destination with various attractions is currently being developed. However, despite progress in physical facilities, plans for proper tourism promotional media remain unprepared. The village government, in coordination with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNSOED, identified limited knowledge of promotional strategies and the absence of a digital database as major challenges. To address this issue, village officials requested assistance in developing online promotional media. Considering the rapid advancement of information technology, digital platforms play a crucial role in supporting tourism promotion. Through community service activities, several stages were implemented, including socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The initial stage involved data collection and website development using WordPress, followed by training for BUMDes Tlaga Pesona managers. Mentoring was then conducted to enable them to manage the website independently. Evaluation results showed that the website improved the managers’ digital literacy, sense of ownership, and responsibility for sustainable tourism promotion. This program demonstrates the tangible benefits of academic–community collaboration and provides a replicable model for technology-based tourism development in rural areas.

Proceeding Young Scholar Symposium on Science Education and Environment (YSSSEE) 4-5 November 2019, Lampung, Indonesia Young Scholar Symposium on Science Education and Environment 2019 (YSSSEE 2019) is an annual symposium held by Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Intan Lampung. The previous 1st International Conference on Electronics and Communication, Network and Computer Technology (ECNCT 2019) was successfully taken place on November 15-17, 2019 in Shenzhen, China. It is our great honor to welcome you to the 2020 International Symposium on New Energy and Electrical Technology (ISNEET 2020) held on September 18-20, 2020 in Changsha, China. ISNEET 2020 welcomes researchers, engineers, scientists and industry professionals to an open forum where advances in the field of New Energy and Electrical Technology can be shared and examined. The conference is an ideal platform for keeping up with advances and changes to a consistently morphing field. Leading researchers and industry experts from around the globe will be presenting the latest studies through papers and oral presentations.The meeting consists of two parts: oral presentations and speeches of keynote speakers. Her speech had mainly analyzed the negative reactions from different sectors of the energy industry in facing the challenge of energy revolution, and Point out that those are the natural reflection of human nature. The last keynote speaker was Prof. Deng Feng, Changsha University of Science and Technology, China.
